Well, I have fallen in love with Provari's and recently grabbed a V1 in the classies just to have it. I am currently running two V2.5's with Protanks at 1.8Ω coils at 3.4-3.6 V. I am running my drippers at 1.4-1.7Ω coils at 3.6-3.9V respectively. Will I run into problems with a V1 in these ranges? As I understand it the V1 offered 12.5 watts and max amp of 2.5 ? By the looks of it I should be good to go with a V1 , but have read that some folks ran into E2 codes while running lower Ω coils. Just how widespread were these issues? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Thanks Train, that is where I thought I might run into trouble. I run them on my MVP and it works fine even though I am hitting the limit. I was wondering if I will get a bunch of error codes, or if it will just fire and limit the voltage. When I get it I'm going to run it for a while and see how it goes. If the upgrade is that reasonably priced it won't be a biggie to give it a ride to the shop. But then again, it won't have the old isopro resistant glue...decisions, decisions...

"Back in the day" I only had error code when running stock attys or cartos that were low ohm. (1.5 st the time) As they aged, some would go down in ohms, triggering the error code. So, I would assume that keeping clean tidy coils would be helpful data for you.

I recently had a well used up clearo do the same thing---yup, this 3 year old device is still running quite well. Sure enough, the ohms were now at 1.3.

Though I don't have the specifics, I sure do know that there were many happy RBA users when the V2 upgrade came out. I'm sure you'd enjoy reading some of those very old threads.

Thank you for popping in here tearose. I started going through the GIANT Provari thread in the stickie section. I am just going to bite the bullet and read the whole thread to get a timeline in my head of what was going on during the development of this great product.

P.S. Thanks for the first hand experience as well. I kind of thought that the issues which I had read about in old posts was due to carto's getting old, coils resistance going flaky, etc. A lot has changed since the introduction of the first Provari. I think I will keep this one in original condition and just use it within it's capabilities. I can always pick up a V2 in decent shape down the road if I keep my eyes open in the classies.
