I use this thing called Hydro. Not a huge fan (I care not for cartomisers) but it has the advantage of being the only one readily available in shops in New Zealand. Been using it for three weeks now, during which time I've smoked three or four analogues - something I will only do when for some reason I can't have an electronic.

Anyway, with this thing I haven't really been stealth vaping. I've been vaping quite openly in Burger King, the cafe I frequent, and the internet cafe whence I'm posting this. When I do this, I usually have my nose in a book, or my eyes glued to a computer screen, so the only hint I've had that anyone's noticed at all was about five minutes ago when the (seriously cute) American girl who works here came up saying, "Sir? Sir, you can't be smoking in here!"

I gave her a quick demo (showing the blue tip) and all was sweet. Vapour. Not smoke. All good.

I tried an experiment the other day, with interesting results.

There's a tavern in one of the Chicago 'burbs which I used to frequent before the Illinois Indoor Clean Air Act took effect in 2008. Since then, I've only been there when I absolutely had to (usually for youth baseball coach meetings and similar).

The other day, I stuffed a couple of assembled PVs and my kit containing extra batteries, several juices, several atomizers, etc., in my pockets. When I entered the tavern, I first asked the owner if it was okay to vape. I had known him from before 2008. He had no problems whatsoever with vaping.

While I was there (another youth baseball coach meeting), I made no secret of vaping. I puffed away, blowing "smoke" rings while putting on a real show. Six people at the bar were curious enough to seek me out. I assembled everything in my kit and gave those who asked a demonstration and let them try out the equipment and juices if they wanted. By the end of the evening, two outdoors cigarette smokers came in from the rain and took drags off my PVs.

If I had had a salesman's sample case full of PV hardware and juices, I'll bet I could have sold several hundred dollars worth, and that's no exaggeration.

At the end of the evening, the owner thanked me very much for showing up and being so patient. He even knocked 20% off my bill!

Awesome story! I am usually hesitant about letting people try mine, not because of germs though. I'm accustom to passing things around in a circle. I usually do let them try my PV, but I explain to them that there is a learning curve to vaping, and just because it doesn't seem like it's working well at first it doesn't mean it doesn't work. First timers will usually get a tiny little puff of vapor to come out, and then I'll take the same PV and blow a cloud.

I also get a lot of girls asking about mine, and if they seem clean enough I'll let them give it a puff. (giggity)
