I started to vape on christmas day and still feel a little weird to vape in public. I think over time this will go away. I don't vape in resturants or public buldings cause I want to respect other peoples space.

vaping has been great for me and havent smoked a cig since i started and don't see myself going back to smoking.

feeling weird is good , keeps you focused informed and openminded.First time out trying to vape in public , had my pv fire in my pants burning my leg at the same second ordering my first beverage. After that I laughed and was shaken into responding to this day when asked why I vape" just another way to enjoy nic (act of smoking) that works for me.hard for anyone to dispute and also makes them think, kinda a hidden message to others who seek answers to their smoke problems if they think they are problems.

I'm still a bit of a wimp i guess, in public i always use my 510 with a white battery (red led) to stay more inconspicuous :p i even bust out the super at times!! Maybe it'll pass, but it works for me! i used my ego outside a bar one night and got a 'thats stupid' from a smoker, based on the fact i was drunk i could only muster up 'as is that haircut, anyone ever told you that?'..
I also never vape anywhere i couldnt smoke...well, almost...in work im in my own space a lot so i vape away like its going out of fashion.

The answer is dark sunglasses. Dark enough so that people can't see your eyes. Something about wearing them just makes you feel empowered. "That's right, I'm vaping. Deal." :2cool:....
LOL acc, this so reminds me of the song 'I wear my sunglasses at night'...
but seriously, I am just getting the swing of this, and as long as it looks like a regular ciggy in public, I honestly don't mind where I do it. I also tend not to hold it like a regular analog when not actually hitting on it, and so far, I've not had any problems from anyone. I just don't think I'm ready to move up to the bigger toys in public (yet) as I don't want anyone to
think I might be hitting on something illegal. I hope this fear subsides, as I agree with the posters here who have overcome this and feel fee to do as they wish...which we should.

I couldn't help but tell the person who made the "stupid" comment to you a couple of things.

The first is, "Well, those have been proven to cause all sorts of illnesses and death. Ecigs are about equal to a nicotine inhaler, will help you quit cigarettes, and it costs less to vape than smoke" (In a joking way, or course). Lighten it up and people will listen.

The second is that at last count, we have over 70,000 vapers on ECF. They all talk about how much better they feel than when they were smoking. People talk about how they were out of breath when they smoked and now they are able to jog and run marathons. There are countless success stories here on ECF. I haven't heard of anyone having a medical problem that could be attributed to vaping, other than allergies to PG.

The more you do it, the better it feels. The more confident you are about it, the less people seem to pay attention too. I vape all round town and at first I was worried people would think I was doing something illegal so I tried to be discreet and it just looked suspicious so now I just get in with it and nobody seems to really notice that much.
How very very very true.
If I had 1 wish...It would be that those who vape would stop
worrying about what strangers might think or say

I've had a few smokers give me a hard time, usually at bars. I just laugh and tell them "I smoked heavy for 30+ years, and it's because of this silly looking thing that I was able to quit. Now I'm saving money, I'm healthier, and I don't stink up everything around me. Yeah, it looks odd, but it beats the hell out of smoking".

You know, it really freaks me out that a smoker of all people-would be the people that are all over the vapers!!! These people-of all people-should understand what we're doing, and why a lot of us began doing it!!! Geez, I just don't get that!!!
Vaping makes smokers a little uncomfortable because someone (yet again)
is pointing out that they should quit smoking.

Its like saying...Hey, I quit and so should you

I've been vaping for around 2 month now while I still have the I'd roll up its getting less and less often that that happens I figure I just haven't found the right nic lvl for me. I vape in public all day when at work and if I get any questions I just explain what it is and MY REASON for using it. Which basically was my health I enjoy it just at times still get a craving that my ego c cannot kill normaly just after work and again after my evening meal.

End of my work day today I'm heading out for a couple drinks first time sinse before I started vaping. I already know how to handle it. Explain politely what it is and why I use it(again my reason and my experience over the last 2 month). Explain how much healthier I feel sinse I started and there we have it. If the management have a problem then fair enough and I'll go outside with it. While I do believe I should be able Vape where I want to I still believe its openly fair to allow for those that won't agree with me on that.

End of the day my boss is the most anti smoking person I know and if I can convince him joe public shouldn't be a problem ;)

When school started back a few weeks ago I felt a little weird when I noticed looks from people as I walked by. I do get a few questions from smokers from time to time, which is interesting because I meet some new people that way.
I also avoid using my ecig inside buildings most of the time because im pretty sure someone will say
"theres no smoking in here:evil:" when they see a cloud of vapor around me.
I have started vaping in the library recently after asking the librarian if it was okay, of course I had to explain to them what it was etc... It's funny, sometimes when people see me with my 808, they say "oh you have a blu?!" ....I'm like...no... apparently where I live thats the only ecig anyone has ever heard of, haha. which the battery I was using actually looks just a like a blu...so i went ahead and got one of those white crystal batts, or whatever its called.

I vape everywhere and have never had anything happen but people asking me (politely) questions. "Wow, that smells good.. it's not a cigarrette... what IS it?". I've ever turned others onto vaping by vaping in public more than a few times. I vape at the grocery store while shopping, while having coffee at coffee shops, in gas stations, restaurants, driving (that makes me nervous at times... I wonder one day if a cop will think I'm smoking a crack pipe while driving and pull me over:)!) People catch YOUR vibe.. if you're at ease, feel guilt-free and go about your business as if you're doing nothing wrong, the less you'll have issues with others. Attitudes are contagious.
