I treat vaping very similar to smoking most of the times. Restaurant's and movie theaters I don't use it. It's better to respect others and not cause controversy then shed negative light on vaping in the public's eyes. At the local mall that I work at I do vape when walking around but there are several kiosk so no one bats an eye about it. Over all just be respectful about it, ask the establishments management or owner before hand and if they say no just step out to use it if you really need to.

Also airports I will vape in a non crowded area of the waiting sections but on the plane I never will. It's not worth getting arrested over for causing a mass panic. People are stupid and may think there is a fire or something wrong with the plane. Hysteria in planes is easy to occur and never a good thing.

I had a bad experience vapeing in public once. I bought concert tickets at a roadhouse. I was unsure about the smoking/vapeing policy. So I sent them an email and asked. They said there was no smoking inside but you may use an electronic cigarette. That night I pulled out my setup, that lasted all of about two seconds. A bouncer slapped me on the shoulder and yelled, no smoking in here! I tried to explain what it was and I was told by a manager I could. He kept cutting me off and yelling, "No smoking!" After a few attempts he just waved a meaty hand in my face and stormed off. I decided to ask a manager again what the policy was. I found one. She told me she was the one who answered my email. Again she said it's fine. I told her what happened. She said, "It's Ohio, the boys don't know what those are. I'll handle it." She spoke to him. He was not happy. Back to the concert and vapeing. For about an hour all was fine. Then, another slap on the shoulder. Another bouncer. "No smoking in here!" Again I tried to explain, he wasn't hearing it. My friend and I just gave up and went home.
