4 days of purely vaping, loving it and feeling great!
I'm out tomorrow and was wondering what you did in pubs - do you assume it's ok and vape your head off? Ask if its ok? Sneak off to the toilets? Stealth vape or go outside with the stinky smokers?

I think I'm probably going to do a mix of the final three - I feel a bit self conscious about asking if I can vape inside and it possibly turning into a huge palaver, with staff asking colleagues and then the manager and them having a big debate!

Hello mate. Ask first, always. I was at Hammersmith Apollo to see Nick Cave a couple of weeks ago and none of the pubs allow vaping, I had to go outside with the smokers. They mentioned how stupid it was that we couldn't vape but nonetheless management decided against it.

I still believe managers just don't want the hassle of explaining to non smokers that vape isn't smoking, they are not against vaping itself. Regardless, always always ask. Assuming it's okay and vaping big clouds of smoke is pretty much the worst thing you can do.

I know there are places where it's okay to vape in the UK. I haven't found any yet but they are out there. Just be cautious we don't want to give vapers a bad name. Asking permission solves EVERY problem straight away.

Edit: thought I'd add, check out ukvapers.org or just google UK Vapers, Also AAEC, both UK forums that can help you a bit more with things closer to home.

I second the previous post - I always ask in pubs, if I want to at all. Usually though, I just go outside. I've done it for years, so what's the hassle?

That being said, if I'm somewhere I'm comfortable in, where I know the owners/managers/etc. - say, at my local - I ask them once, and then take the liberty whenever I'm there

I would go outside ... and stand upwind from the smokers ... why ruin your clothes with the smell of smoke?
