I'm sorry to hear that LordDavon and I hope everything goes well for you. I know from personal experience that it's not just the nicotine that helps prevent your healing. It's all the tars, carcinogins (sp?). This is going to be a little bit of a long reply, but here's my story:
A little over a year ago, I started vaping with the BluCigs. I fell out of a friend's attic and broke my left tibia at the very tip. It was broken so badly that I had to have an external fixator (very scary looking thing) instead of a cast. I was in the hospital for a week total. I vaped the BluCigs while I was there and the dr's, nurses had no problems with it. I came home and started back on the analogs. My ortho dr told me every 2 weeks during my check-ups to quit smoking!! About 2 months later, still having a broken leg, I spent 4 days in the hospital with pnuemonia. Finally a very nice dr who was treating me explained why I HAD to quit smoking to heal my bone. You have red blood cells running all through your body that move everywhere to keep your organs, tissues, everything clean and healthy. When you smoke, the tars and nasty stuff in analogs build up on those red blood cells and prevent them from doing their job in healing and keeping your body healthy. My ortho dr never explained all of this to me, but this dr did. I came home, started back on my BluCigs and used the nic patch too. Not good, I know, but I wanted that damn bone healed and that hideous, heavy thing off of my leg! 2 weeks later, I went back in for my x-rays and guess what? Healed!! I spent a total of 4 solid months with a broken leg and all it took was 3 weeks of no analogs to make this difference. I started back with the analogs because I really was not satisfied with the BluCigs, but then I found this forum and the 510's about 2 months ago and I haven't smoked since. Now, my pain management dr also thinks that these PV's are great too, btw
I'm sorry that this is so long, but I wanted to let you know that it was not the nicotine, it was the analogs themselves
Good luck and keep us posted

You do live dangerously don't you?

I am going in for back surgery on the 22nd. I am hoping to bring my Riva 510 with me. I am also bringing my laptop so, I can use that for charging. I know that nicotine is something that hinders recovery after surgery so, I am unsure how my PV will be received by the hospital. My pain management doctor thought that vaping was great.

Has anyone had a hospital stay and brought their PV with them? How was it received? Did you discuss it with them when you went in prior to the surgery, when you filled out all of the paperwork? Were you told that it wasn't welcome after surgery?

Personally, I was able to vape when I was in the hospital the last time. I didn't remember to ask when I was admitted, so I asked the floor Nurse if vaping was allowed. She told me that many of the patients used e-cigs.

When my sister was at a different hospital, she was told by the head Nurse on her floor that it was OK for her to vape. But the hospital policies may vary in different states.

I'm having surgery this time in 3 weeks, so I'll find out what the Doctor has to say about vaping in my hospital room. He's glad I'm using e-cigs to quit analogs, so hopefully he won't have any objections.

I hope you have a speedy recovery! :)

constant state of confusion
Hope for your speedy recovery. I had a bad brown recluse spider that I had for about 3 weeks before I started vaping. It was very slow healing. Once I completely gave up the analogs 2 weeks ago, it is healing very fast and after 9 weeks it is finally almost closed. I vape 24-36 mg juice.
