Hi I am fairly new to vaping and started like most people. I fell for the major brand and bought their starter kit. As a PAD smoker I found the batteries even with their PCC to be a complete pain. I would immediately have to get a pack of analogs once the batteries ran out. I also found the TH very unsatisfying. I quit vaping for awhile believing that there wasn't a solution for me. Then I once again got tired of smoking and starting researching to see if there was anything with bigger batteries that would give me a satisfying experience. Luckily I found a battery mod that uses 14500 batteries at 3.7V and learned about 1.5 Ohm attys. This has kept me analog free for a week now, and I don't plan on going back.

Now to my question and the title of the post. My wife is a PAD smoker as well and Virginia Slim Ultralight Menthols are her preferred brand. She is very dedicated to her brand where I on the other hand switched regularly as brand didn't matter. I have tried to convince her to try vaping to quit smoking and she is hesitant because my setup over powers her and she really wants the Virginia Slim taste. I use a 3.7Volt setup, 1.5 Ohm atty, and Firecracker juice at 36mg, 24mg, or 8mg depending on the time of day, cravings, etc... I also direct drip (for full disclosure). Can anyone help me in finding the right juice, and setup that would have a high chance of meeting the her flavor preference? So far the menthols she has tried aren't cutting it. It maybe that my setup is all wrong for her.

Thanks ahead of time for your feedback and suggestions.

i could be wrong, but there is no way to replicate exactly a cigarette. people have tried, and im sure there are some close ones, you just cant replicate the burning tobacco and the other chemicals and substances found in cigarettes. i used to be a PAD marlboro smooth smoker. hunted forever trying to find a vape that tasted like it, no luck, lots of close ones, but most menthol i have seen tastes like candy, or cough drops. just my .02 good luck on your hunt tho,

Hey there, I'm glad to hear you decided to give it a second try and congratulations on being smoke free! I know to many people that tell me the e cigs didn't work for them and I've found all of those people have used the cheap gas station brand models. Kudos on doing the research to find a better model, I've always said a smart man doesn't know anything but he knows how to use google!

As for your wife and finding her flavor, no juice is going to taste exactly like any particular brand of cigarettes. Even the Marlboro, Camel Newport and other flavors aren't going to taste exactly like a real cigarette. I would just suggest to try a bunch of different flavors. There are several websites that have tobacco samplers and you can add menthol to them if you'd like. Here are a few flavors I found for you that are supposed to resemble Virginia Slims Tobacco Flavors

Another longtime Marlb. Smooth former smoker here. I bought a bunch of menthol juice at the beginning, and haven't used it since my other flavors came in. Just order a sample pack of menthol flavors, and then see if there is anything else she might be interested in, and she may never look back!

I am in love with Pchela's Famous 5 layer, at Mom & Pops. It's so dang tasty.

BTW - the menthols I tried? Most tasted and smelled like Vicks VaporRub. Maybe a spearmint would be better? I never got far enough long in my menthol quest to try it out.

Best of luck to both of you!!

That's exactly it - try a bunch of different flavors until she finds one that she likes better than what she's smoking now. I quit smoking with coffee and blackberry niquids, a menthol smoker I know quit smoking when she discovered cinnabomb. It can be frustrating in the beginning. Now, when I want the smell of smoke I light a bayberry candle or fire up the wood stove.

I have smoked ultralights at various times (as well as full strength and lights) but know nothing about menthol.

I can tell you the effect of lights or ultralights is achieved with less heat and a bit less nicotine. My personal opinion is that juices 10-12mg most approximates the feeling of ultralights but she may prefer 16-18mg. I smoked Virgina Slims Ultralights a bit once after getting out of the hospital but prefferd Capri Ultralights - I remember the Virginia Slims as being more tobacco-y and less cocoa-y. Maybe a Virginia juice (and there are MANY and they are all different). I think Vaporbomb has a Virginia menthol. Be careful - I think they list VG first then PG. I prefer high PG juices in cartomizers (like 80PG 20VG).

Yeah as you probably know, the best you can get is more of a smell like fresh tobacco and maybe a bit of smoky smell. My personal favorite is V4L WOWbacco juice which is a cocoa tobacco that is most just a light smoky cocoa aroma.

As for setup - anything the exact size of a cigarette is not good. The best slim setup is a manual KR808D-1 used with Bloogplanet or SmokelessImage cartos (Halocigs G6 cartos may be the same nice cartos). I prefer V4L for my batteries for the custom 10+ second cutoff instead of the 5 second cutoff of most other KR8's (downside is V4L manuals are not as well sealed on thr threaded end as SmokelessImage and Bloogplanet manuals). And I like the V4L WOW cartos but they can get so hot on the lips that you need a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece (which I do anyway so I can remove it to check the stuffing color to see if I should add juice, and can remove it to add juice with carto off battery. ) One KR808D-1 benefit is starting with prefilled cartomizers but it's not cost efficient unless you keep them damp to get many days use out of each. I can get a week or more out of each with thin clear juices.

A weaker setup would be a joye 510 manual (only 180mah - about 1.8 hours of moderate vaping). I use these with Boge cartomizers (NiteLiteVapor.is carries the hard to find tan and white besides black) and Charleston vaping has the nice PCC I use). I also have chargers at work for all models I use.

I don't know if it tastes like it, but that's what my girlfriend smoked,, she likes tobacco Vape placid from Kick Bass Vapors. Finding a the their flavor you like is a journey. Personally,, the ice cream flavors taste so much better. I love the marionberry. You can always sell it here on a ECF. Good luck. Also, watch the prices, sample bottles are often over $1.00 an ounce. Best or luck to both of you on a smoke free life.

Give V-Thin Ultra Lights Menthol from Smoke for Penny's a try. My "brand" was as close to the real thing as I could ever imagine. If it's too strong, add a little plain USP vg, if it's not minty enough, add a little spearmint. A close "base" and little experimentation and you'll find something she'll truly enjoy!

Best wishes!:vapor:

I recommend u get her an xl auto battery set from v4l, with a menthol sampler or 2 of the prefilleds to see what she likes. Or get some Virginia Menthol or Cool menthol. I prefer the cool cartos over the wow cartos. The diamond tip batts are pretty too. I used to smoke marlboro menthol ultralight 100's, and occasionally light 100s. For a good while Cool and a mix of Cool and Virginia Menthol kept me happily vaping. Also the v4l batts are great!!! Add a drip tip or 2 and then u just got it all at one place - she can try other menthols later if she likes, and I also recommend trying bloog or smokeless image cartos, which will work with v4l batts (tho not the other way around, many times my v4l cartos will not work on my smokeless image batts).

Sign up for their newsletter at v4l.com. They also have a little forum of their own now that you or she can check out. They run frequent sales so if you sign up for the newsletter you will see them all. Right now the sale is just on the usa nobacco line of juice, which is a great line (I HIGHLY reccomend Peacemaker Peppermint). But if you are going to buy a kit and other things I would wait for a sale that has a percentage off of everything. You shouldn't have to wait very long, maybe a day or 2? Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the input. It really helps. I knew we wouldn't find anything that tastes just like the Virginia Slim analogs, hell I never thought I would enjoy smoking a cinnamon base, but so far it is my favorite and gives the TH etc... that I need to stop the cravings. I do have quite a few samplers on order for myself, and will start ordering some for her. It sounds like the 12mg and an 18mg will probably be where I start with her, I just know mine are way to strong for her. I will also look at more of the automatic batteries from the suggested vendors, I just know that that didn't work for me, and the Blu that I still have supplies for doesn't work for her. I also have a Magma auto that I liked for some time, but still hated the battery situation and the TH wasn't enough for me. I found what works for me at present so now it sounds like I just need to help guide her through her journey. I appreciate the help and am glad I found ECF, wish I had found it sooner.

I doubt she will find anything to taste like her brand of cigarettes. If she's looking for a good menthol flavor I have tried many but the best is Mister-E-Liquid menthol juice. She can choose the strength of the menthol but I aways use full strength.

I can tell you if it were not for this juice I probably would not have been able to stick with vaping. When I need a good strong hit I vape Mr E's menthol juice. It satisfies my craving for a death stick.

Good luck and hope your able to find a juice for her.

I am going to go "against the grain" from the others and suggest you get her some House Blend from Copper Creek along with the others she tries. It's not really "tobacco like" at all to me but tastes oh so good who cares! In my opinion it's nice to have something good and different to switch out to . Whatever it takes to not smoke the death sticks is my mantra

Like others have said, the menthol leaves something to be desired. I was a 3 pad menthol smoker, I ended up finding flavors like spearmint, peppermint and cinnamon to be among the best to satisfy the throat hit and flavor. I have now epanded the flavors I like as I have gotten over wanting or craving the menthol, in fact I detest it now!

Blu doesn't compare to other kr808 batteries, like the vapor4life ones or the smokeless image ones!! Just so you know....

The flavor is going to be tough a couple of menthol samplers from a couple of places would be the best bet. It also sounds like the setup is also an issue. your rocking a lr at 3.7v and on top of that a very high mg strength juice for the most part. She's use to ultralights so I might try 12-18mg maybe less at 3.7v with a resistance 2-2.5 ohms. May be a bit closer to what she's looking for in feel and vapor production. Hope this helps.
