Question about 510 atomizer

Been using a 901 atty since I started vaping and I recently decided to switch to 510 cause I heard they perform much better.

Problem I'm having is the first hit off it is nice, but the second hit is harsh and burns a little in my throat.

My 901's I can just puff n puff off but there has to be something wrong if the second hit off this thing is doing this. It's a new atomizer and I have tried dripping and carts getting the same results.

Not sure whats going on, also getting a much less satisfying hit that isnt as filling even on the first hit.

Im getting less flavor and this thing is just too hot even on a 3.7volt battery ive been using for 8 hours...

Any people who r getting rlly nice hits with their 510's got any tips?

Sounds like your atty is running dry. Are you dripping.. using a 510 cart or a 901 cart?

Well I tried both dripping and cart, I have only tried a 510 cart..

Make sure you got the priming liquid burnt off or else EVERYTHING will taste like crap for a few days! Otherwise make sure the filler in the cart is touching the wick so your actually getting juice. Also try dripping for a while. Hopefully you haven't gotten one of the recent faulty 510 attys. Apparently JOYE wasn't doing too well with quality control towards the end of '09, but I believe this is a known problem and is being resolved. They still have to sell off the old batch before the new ones make it out everywhere. Best advice...... make sure you ALWAYS have a spare!

The 510's tend to get pretty hot pretty quick. You should get pretty decent flavor at 3.7v, though 5+ it gets kinda sketchy. As stated by others, the primer needs to burn off. Or you can blow it out as best as possible. That will give a nasty burnt metal kind of flavor. As with all new equipment, there's some learning to do.

Same thing happened to me. Are you using the Janty brand atomizer (wide gold stripe)?

I'm not sure if it is a batch problem or something, but I've always had a problem with the branded atty. Switch to the plain black one and give it a try. You can puff this one forever without the horrible taste.

All new atomizers require approx a day before getting the best flavor out of it.

My last 5 atties all from a reputable UK dealer have been faulty, Yes they heat up Yes they produce vapour BUT
No they dont give a good hit
No they are not consistant
No they do not perform as well as one I still have from july

Its probably faulty

Note black ones seem to be worse than the platinum ones

Ive got a black 510 atomizer from madvapes just got it about a week ago. This thing is killing me, a couple puffs off it and my lungs are sore.

noone else is experiencing this? its not the juice because im using the same juice in my 901 and all the primer has been blown out of my 501 and ive been using it over a week. Ive heard such great things about this atty thats why im still trying it. My lungs never hurt this bad from analogs and dont hurt at all from my 901.

Ok, I went the opposite way. I started with a 510 and decided to try the 901 a few weeks later. The 510 gives a helluva throat hit compared to the 901. I can definately FEEL it with my 510. My 901 is just really smooth and gives more flavor.
After using my 510 and feeling it so much, if it wasn't for the vapor and flavor, I'd think the 901 didn't work.. lol
The 510 also does get a LOT hotter IMO.

How do you know this Ryan? This sucks because I have 8 bad ones and I've been posting about the horrid, nasty taste and no one has said anything to me about a known problem. I even emailed Cignot and asked them if they had complaints and they said only one and that it was resolved when he dripped on the atty!

Have you heard this from a reputable source that is "in the know"?

While I can't say it isn't true... I hate to see rumors (perhaps) like this get started because they tend to snowball out of control.

Here is what I can say about the JOYE 510 atty's. I spent A LOT of time trolling all over ECF before I started to post recently. I wish I could find the thread I read about this in, but it was on here (ECF not specifically this forum) and I believe it was on one of the suppliers boards or the battery mod thread.

All I can really remember is it had something to do with Heavens Gifts. Knowing they're from China and so is JOYE, (from what I can remember) They said they had talked with JOYE and said they would make sure better attys were coming in the future.

I don't think this is some type of conspiracy or anything, just more like a Chinese company not testing their products thoroughly enough and a (local to them) supplier/re-saler stepping in to say that this is a problem and needs to be fixed.

Also I want to say that the mods here are doing a great job. I don't' believe that they're not letting us know about these issues because everything here is so new (in the grander scheme of things) and problems are bound to happen in the process of developing all these new PV's. Attys have been an issue in ALL PV's and most likely will continue to be. 510 attys have been especially problematic, but they are also one of the newest types. I'm sure as the popularity keeps growing the atty issue will get better and the next best thing will inherit these issues.

What juice are you using? Is it PG or VG?

Are you sure the 510 cart is full and wicking properly to the bridge? I agree with Scottbee that is sounds like the atty could be dry. You did say you tried dripping though, so that may not be the issue.

If it is lack of flavor, yes the 901 is reputed to give better flavor, but less vapor than the 510, since the hotter atty will tend to kill some flavor.

I am wondering if the juice is PG, and the hotter 510 atty is simply making it more irritating, and the 901 was not hot enough to create this effect. Aching lungs tells me that it might actually be a juice issue, possibly the usual PG irritation thing.

But don't throw it down the toilet...send it all to me!
