Question About Authentication

Okay, I went and stepped out on a limb and purchased a iTaste MVP2.0 from VapingMe.com. So, being the patient person that I am (Shut up, ChopDoc!!), I sat down and read through the user manual. The first thing I see is this:

To verify that this iTasteMVP is a real innokin Technology device please:
1. Locate and Scratch to reveal your iTaste MVP Unique Authorization number, which is included on a label on the reverse of the packaging.
And, it goes on to send me to the website and put in my number, blah, blah, blah.

Now, unless I'm blind as a bat or crazy as hell, which is a huge possibility, I cannot find a label to scratch off on the packaging. What am I missing?

According to iTaste, if there is no scratch off, it is not authentic.

No barcode anywhere on the package? Inside the package maybe? I don't know. I haven't personally bought any Innokin products so I have no clue. I just dug this up through Google.

Thanks Robino, but I have looked through every piece of everything that came with this package. I'm used to digging for serial numbers on parts, so trust me when I tell you, I poured over everything with a fine tooth comb. I'm not very happy right now.

I wouldn't be happy either. I'm sorry that you have this situation. Not sure what recourse you have at this point. Sending the product back, contact the vendor?

No authentication code / scratch off could mean they aren't an authorized Innokin reseller or they bought them from a source that isn't an authorized dealer which doesn't necessarily mean you received a fake.

That will be the where the scratch off is located on the package, the blue, white, and gray label. Just have to scratch the gray bar off to reveal the code, then enter that code in on Innokin's website.

My bar code/authentication scratcher is actually a sticker, affixed to the top of the clear plastic case, not the inner packaging. Where's your clear plastic outer case? It's not in the photo.

Also, one difference between my packaging vs. what's in your pic. In the bottom right hand corner, yours has 'by' in black print with a green circular logo I can't make out. Mine has 'by' in white print followed by the blue oval Innokin logo.

Yep, that's what I thought as well. I couldn't verify mine as I am currently at work but I thought it was on the outside of the box.

I just typed up a reply, with pictures, and it sloughed off into cyber space. Anyway.....I looked everywhere all you helpful folks told me to look. I even fished the plastic wrap out of the garbage. No sticker or bar code anywhere. Customer service replied promptly:

That's very odd! I assure you, we only sell genuine Innokin products. We do not sell knock offs. This is honestly the first time we've ever heard of this. I'm not sure what else I can do to reassure you other than give you my word. All Innokin, Vision and Kanger products we sell are the real deal.

I'm a little surprised that they didn't offer to have me send it back and send me one with a sticker, but they are an ECF approved vendor, so I may just give them the benefit of the doubt.

Has anyone heard of MVP knockoffs? I have not. Also if it was a clone, it seems odd that the manual would tell you to look for the sticker. I too think that they should send you a new one.

I have never heard of a I taste clone. My MVP II had it on the bottom of the case where the bar code is. I just bought a I taste click spinner I haven't checked the code but its on the bottom of the case just like my MVP. Sorry to hear your having this issue. Now it makes me want to check my spinner.
