I recently bought a new battery and head but the vape tastes really burnt and burns my throat. I'm thinking that maybe my battery doesnt work with my tank??

I bought a Joye eGo ONE 2200mAh Battery, and I'm trying to use a kangertech subtank nano (0.5 ohm) tank.

They look good together but the vape that comes out is no good (Halo's Belgian Cocoa).

The belgian cocoa tastes great with my protank 2 tank on the same battery, but when I switch to my kangertech subtank nano, it ruins it.

Any ideas? Is my battery not the right kind for straight to lung inhales?

If the battery should work with this tank, I think I probably over saturated the coil. I saw in the instructions that I should prime the coil when filling the tank. But I kinda just loaded it up.

Could that cause it to taste burnt and burn my throat?

Could be. The Subtank heads use cotton for the wick so if you did fire it before it was saturated, you could scorch the wick and ruin the head.

I see that my post isn't clear. I didn't fire it up before the coil was saturated. I over saturated the coil by loading up the hole with juice. Didn't realize I could put too much.

So maybe that's what the problem is?

Make sure you don't have the watts set too high when starting off with a new coil. I've found that there's a certain break in period. I usually prime the coil, start at low wattage like 8-9 watts and take a few small puffs at first. The slowly move up the watts after a few puffs at each setting until I get to the place where it tastes good to me.

Unfortunately my battery isn't adjustable. I checked my coil and it doesnt look burnt. Maybe what I'm getting from the Subtank Nano is normal. The vape is extremely hot, even when I open up the airflow. And the flavor is weak when compared to my protank 2.

It produces a tonne load of vapor like I see in the youtube videos, but it's almost impossible to enjoy those lung inhales. I have to hold it in my mouth for a bit and wait for it to cool down. But even when I do that, the flavor is disappointing (when compared to my protank 2).

I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong but maybe this is what it's supposed to be like...

I've read threads on how well the ego one and subtank nano combination looks well, and works well. In fact, I use the same setup (with 1100mAh) occassionally but the only issue I have with the setup is the warmth of the vapour (I like it cool and minty), but other users seem to like that. I can't post links but I've googled at least 5 of those forum threads.

The 1100mAh and 2200mAh should only differ in power capacity but not the voltage to drive the power.

Too bad I can't offer you a solution (new vaper myself) but my point is that the setup and combination should work well together.

If you can't adjust your battery then you are putting 35 watts through your coil. It is quite possible that you find this to be too much. Possibly now you have fried your wick also. Have you got a 1.2 ohm coil with your subtank? Try that instead.

Concur. I actually use an Ego One and Subtank Nano with the 0.5 ohm OCC coil as my every day driver. Sounds like you burnt the coil at some point. Try two things. First, use the 1.2 ohm coil that also came with the tank. Put a few drops of juice in the hole to prime it (2 on either side of the coil, one directly on it) and let it sit in the filled tank for about 5 minutes, taking a few (no more than 10) primer hits without firing.

If that works, you probably need a new 0.5 ohm coil. Once cotton is burnt, it's burnt for good and the taste is there to stay.

Also, be care you don't over prime the coil. Don't drip more than 2 or 3 drops through the top into the coil. I had done this by putting about 6 drops through the top of the coil and 3 onto each side hole. All that excess juice actually dripped down through the coil and I had a small leak through the bottom of the 510 connector. Luckily I caught it in time and wiped my mod clean.

OK I'll definitely try this! You're setup is exactly like mine so at least I know it should work. Your profile pic looks exactly like mine (except I wish I got the 1100 instead of 2200 - it looks more compact).. But tell me, is the vape warm/hot or should it be as cool as say the protank 2?

Go here: Watts - volts - amps - ohms conversion calculator and enter a value for ohms and, assuming your battery is 4.2 fully charged, enter 4.2 for volts. This will tell you the power delivered to the coil in watts.
Assuming the protank is 1.5, the calculator tells us the subtank at 1.2 will deliver a warmer vape. Probably not enough to worry about though - certainly not the fierce hit of the 0.5 coil.
Might be worth putting a variable voltage/wattage battery on your wish list. This would enable you to fine tune your vape to exactly how you like it.

Oh yeah... I dig the setup. I thought about getting the 2200mah, but I REALLY wanted a small setup. Top to bottom, including drip tip, it measures 119mm. Look at the picture, I'm a little dude with little hands and this thing is STILL tiny in my mitt. And besides, it's really not difficult to carry a micro usb cord with me throughout the day.

Vape temp is on the warmer side, but depends on your air flow. Wide open, the temp is coolER, but still what I'd classify as tepid. Definitely not cool. On the tightest draw, it's pretty warm, but certainly not what I'd call hot. On the tightest draw it also has a serious throat hit. Flavor also increases when you tighten the draw, but there's no difference in flavor that I can tell between the tightest and middle settings.I generally vape on the second setting for the extra flavor or wide open if I want clouds. If I want to mouth to lung hit, I go to the tightest draw. It's still a LITTLE loose for a mouth to lung hit, but it works. Quite warm, though. Compared to the Protank 2, this thing produces MUCH warmer vapor with the 0.5 ohm heads, particularly on the tightest draw. With the 1.2 ohm head, it's still going to be noticeably warmer than the Protank, but noticeably cooler than with the 0.5 ohm heads.
