Question about battery life and health

so my question is... i have a variable voltage spinner, 900mah... sometimes i turn it off overnights..
does anyone know if the battery lasts longer if you leave it on or turn it off while you're sleeping?
i just noticed my phone actually dies quicker if i turn it off for long periods of time. weird

so does anyone know what's better for the e-cig battery?

to my knowledge you don't really turn it off .. you just set it to not activate when the button is pressed..

with mine i can hit the button 5 times quickly and it shuts off. same to turn it on.
but just like my phone... i wonder if the battery uses too much energy to turn itself off and on.. maybe i should just leave it on all the time.

Turning it on/off will not use up the battery ... as you were just told, it just deactivates the button.

Different types of batteries depending on their chemistry, have different characteristics when it comes to how long they hold a charge... Example, a typical alkaline battery will store pretty well for several years, a standard ( non-rechargeable ) lithium will typically hold a charge for around 10 years. Rechargeable lithium types are not like that and don't retain a charge for a long time ( relatively speaking )... A LiPo battery ( typically used in RC cars/planes etc ) will hold a charge for only up to about 30 days... I'm uncertain to the types used in our PV's, what their shelf storage is exactly but I expect it to be close to what a LiPo will hold one for. The age of a battery also plays a big role, as does how much we discharge and recharge the battery...

Typically they estimate that our batteries will last between 300-500 recharge cycles... if we over discharge or over charge a battery, it will shorten that estimate drastically.

the 5 click on and off isnt really off in like turning off a light. the chip inside is still drawing a tiny bit of power from the battery otherwise it would not be able to detect the 5 clicks to turn the unit back 'on'. the 5 clicks is simply disabling the output of the device.

as to the battery life - thats a good question since i personally dont ever turn mine off lol

only mechanical mods or units with a switch that disconnects the battery can be turned totally 'off'. anythinig digital or with a chip in it like an ego or spinner or what have you the circuit will still be drawing power in the off state because the circuit is controlling the 'off' state with either several clicks or a long press of one of the buttons.
the twists i have had apart (all have the 5 click feature) when the battery cell is reconnected the led blinks in a similar way as did the orignal piper passthrough (and some others that dont have a battery) would when initally plugged in and then i believe it needed the 5 clicks to actually turn the unit 'on'. i have also had 2 that got 'stupid' and i had to disconnect the battery cell from the circuit for a brief time in order for the circuit to reset and start working properly again. these couple of things indicate to me that the circuit is always drawing a teensy bit of power all the time but i couldnt say how much. i can say i have had older egos (without the 5 click feature) that stayed charged for several weeks between uses so im not so sure about that one. and none of my current stuff sets still long enough to find out if the battery runs down on its own or not...

you mentioned over discharging or over charging... i just use the battery til the light blinks, saying it's dead. and i always pull the battery off the charger as soon as the light goes green. so that should be the correct way to do it right??

I would recommend recharging before the time that the light blinked... Many of them blink only after the battery is discharged down to @3.0-3.2v which is a little low IMO... I usually try to not go lower than 3.4v when I'm paying attention. If yours doesn't have a voltage readout, you'll just have to guess at it based on your own experience.

ok. i can mostly tell when it's low. i don't get a strong enough hit.
so the batteries should last over a year? 300-500 recharges... that's not bad for 30 bucks.
what kind of battery do you have einstein?

I use the Vamo... not eGo's... Other than a couple of 350mah sized one's because of their size ... I don't use eGo style batteries for several reasons. Cost is a big one, I can get several AW IMR ( or eFest etc ) batteries for the price of just one eGo type of good quaility. I can select a small 800mah up to over 2000mah depending on how long I need them to last.

The recent development of the FDA either regulating or completely banning e-cig stuff... also means that e-cig specific batteries may become unavailable to us in the USA... Using a generic batteries like the 18350, 18500 and/or 18650 means I will still have batteries available and would only need to find a work-around for the nicotine e-juice then. I've also started using rebuildable atomizers ( ie RBA ) for the same reason as well how well they function.

yeah if they ban this stuff.. i will just quit. i've already gotten off of real cigs. thankfully.
or i will just have to move to canada.

Like many websites, they are also sold out at GV currently... They are popular to say the least. They work with either a single 18350 or a 18650... they can also use 2 18350's but I don't recommend stacking batteries.
