Hey I've got a question about my Boges. I'm sure everyone is aware of the QC issues at Boge and Bogegate. Okay here's my problem. I ordered a bunch of boxes of SR 510 5 black boxes and 5 stainless. I would say out of the 20 or so I've tried, close to half have a weird thing going on inside. When you take the rubber mouthpiece that comes on them off and look inside there is a wire that runs down the air tube. This is supposed to be wrapped in blue or black cover. Well half of the new ones I'm looking at aren't. I can see the wire. I'll post a pic (upside down I know) below of two one that is like all the others I've ever used and one of these new ones. It's hard to see but you can see the silver. Are these still safe to use? They seem to be working okay no error codes on my ProVari or anything but still makes me nervous. Thanks for the help

I haven't seen this in any of my Boges. I'm wondering if the black coating has anything to do with keeping odd tastes from coming off the bare wire. Probably just something that got thru their crappy QC, or they decided to save a 1/2 cent by not having them coated.

Thanks for the reply. My main concern was that this wire was covered to prevent shorts. I'd hate to fry my twist or other mods or put myself in danger. I posed the question to Mr. Stanley Chin at Boge, so we'll see if he responds.

Like you said, I think it's a QC issue or maybe to save money or maybe they just completely forgot the step until they wrapped and then said oh well. I will say though the new one seem to be more absorbent like the old ones were, and I"m not getting any funny taste...yet only been 2 days. Boge is totally ruining my day. I am over here dripping in attys which I hate and my 3 J-tanks are angry as well

Heard back from my vendor that talked to Mr. Chin at Boge. He claims that the exposed wire is no problem. Will not get hot or cause any issues. But, I mean come on Boge...really? I think everyone should start emailing Mr. Chen. Maybe if enough of us bother them they will try harder to fix these QC problems. I would even pay more if they could just ensure that the product was quality, and I have a feeling I'm not alone in this train of thought.

Hmm, if it doesn't make any diff., then why coat them to begin with? But sometimes bare wire can give off a metallic taste, so probably coated because of that. They definately have a problem there, and of course they won't say anything. We can just hope that they will fix it eventually. I used to get 2-4 weeks out of a Boge and S.T. carto, now I'm doing good to get a week. I have 7 pv's that I vape on all day, so each carto isn't getting used steadily.

Nilbog- since you have both types, can you tell us if there is any difference vaping with them? Do both types have the same long n' short condoms?

I have some from early Jan. that are so-so, but not real bad. They have the black wire.

As far as taste goes, I haven't noticed any difference between the two....YET! But I haven't really tested a whole lot either I just got these new ones with no wire cover last night. At first I didn't feel like it was firing as hard as it should. It's difficult to tell because I had one of the new ones (no wire cover) in a tank and the old one (with wire) not in a tank. Tonight I will do a side by side comparison with the new ones with no wire cover and my old ones with on a couple of identical PVs. I'll post back with the results.

One thing I will say is that the filler material no longer looks "pushed" down or like it's wrapped too tightly. These new ones are also absorbing liquid great. They also have the old one long/one short condom like we've always bought but they have the "510 SR Stainless" printed/typed on the individual candy packs. And a sticker on top of the box they come in that says "510 SR Stainless". According to what Mr. Chen told PBusardo, the new ones were supposed to have "510D SR Stainless". These don't have that D for disposable. Did I mention I'm a little bit obsessed with this?

oplholik I feel your pain. I think someone jokingly said "they changed the Boges because they were too good!". This is no longer funny I'm starting to think there might be some truth to this.

Also, I bet you are absolutely right about the bare wire giving off a metallic taste. I was worried about shorts, but that never crossed my mind. I was vaping some COV vanilla cream last night in one of the new Boges on my ProVari and on the Twist up around 4.5V and it didn't taste metallic. But again this could be because of that juice or the fact I had it in a carto tank might have been hiding the metallic taste. I'm going to do some testing tonight with no tank and a different juice that I'm more familiar with, and I'll post back tonight.

So did some testing last night. These new ones with no wire don't seem to be as crackly or poppy, but they are producing plumes of tasty vapor. No tight draw or anything else. There might be a slight metallic taste, but nothing I can really discern. Still please Boge get it together. You have helped so many people quit smoking and start vaping, and now you are affecting the vendors. I feel so badly for vendors that have based their business on selling boges....I think we know who I am referring to. They are taking the flack for something they have no control over.

I know I love my Vivi Nova. The videos make recoiling them look so easy, but I can't seem to get it down. Too loose or too tight. Tried the cotton wick that Estarra mentioned in his vid but I didn't think the flavor was any better than with the normal coil heads that come with the thing. Now if we could just get them to stop putting the fill marks/measurements on the tubes! It makes it look like a syringe which I hate. Would much prefer a blank tube. But the disposable coils I've been buying have lasted me several days up to a week. I read that you can then rinse them with hot water and do a dry burn to burn off the old gunked up coil and it is supposed to be like new. Going to try that. I hope your Boge order is right on and they work great like we all remember!

Overload is the perfect word! Have you seen the "safe wicking materials" thread? I mean people talking about anything from cotton gauze to bamboo twine. I was going to try cotton yarn, but dang if I can find anything that looks unbleached and lead free. The fiberglass has always worked well for me, but like you said I'm not sure about the safety of such materials.

That's one of the threads I'm following. I'm considering getting the cotton gauze I believe it is, then just cut it to size and roll it up.

I just got my Boge 3Ω Xl's, one box of five, and they have the long and short condoms and the black coated wire.

Awesome! Glad to hear this. I guess I just got a bad batch.

Got around to trying one of the Boge XL 3Ω cartos. Apparently it doesn't wick too well. It gets the burnt taste after a short time, after filling it up. First off I filled it, let it sit overnight, then gave it a top off before putting it to use the next day. Wasn't long before that dry harsh feeling hit the back of my throat. Topped off and the same thing again after a short while. Maybe they would work ok in a tank, I dunno.
