I believe cartos are disposable. People talk about getting weeks or even months out of them. I don't buy it. 3 to maybe 10 M/L max. This depends on juice and what you're willing to put up with. If it starts to get a tight draw or funky flavor it's history. Cleaning? Never had any luck bringing one back to like new. For the cost of a pack of smokes you can get a box of 5 cartos.

The whole point of cartomizers is convenience. You fill them over and over again until they develop tight draw or the taste weakens. In a carto with filler inside, the coil causes breakdown of the filler and the tell tale is burning or discoloration when you look inside.

In the clearomizers, the plastic tube cracks, gets loose, or the wicks lose their ability to get juice to the bowl and coil. You can pull them apart and wash them, but usually once you do that once or twice, the clear plastic tube starts to crack of loosen and they leak or come apart.

Google clearomizer cleaning. Clearomizers come with instructions that say four refiills and then toss.

I ran more than 70ml of DK-TAB through an EMDCC (eGo mega dual coil carto) just to see how long it would run. It ran for exactly 30 days before a coil died and it was the only carto I used that month - but I ran a paper clip up the thing three or four times a week to keep the air passage clear. The carto was pretty funky when it died but a friend of mine x-rayed it. Check it out -

"The carto was pretty funky when it died" That says it all. No way would I put up with this unless I had no other means to vape. Now the paperclip thing shows promise. Next time I have a carto that starts to get a tight draw before a funky flavor I'll give it a try.

I just wanted to see how long the thing would run :)

It just looked funky on the inside - it tasted okay. Draw was getting a little stiff even with regular cleaning, though.

Careful with that paper clip, though - the paper clip goes through the coil and I've killed a carto cleaning it that way. If the coil's in the way you'll break it if you're not careful, and some cartos just don't have a straight shot up through the packing.

My observations are that a 3ohm carto @5v will out last five 2ohm cartos @ 3.7v.
If you do the paperclip trick daily you will double the life of a carto.
But, at $1.25 each .... so what! when one goes bad toss it. It takes an additional 25 cents just to buy a cup of coffee, and how long does a cup of coffee last?

I wish I could buy EMDCCs for a buck and a quarter :D

The Smoktech version madvapes sells has had some QC issues and I prefer the EMDCC clones vapingzone sells anyway, but they're $14 for a five-pack.

But - mine last a couple weeks easy.

They are considered disposables. How long each lasts depends on many variables. Juice thickness, voltage used at, flavorings, type, etc. Some folks clean them. For what they cost I just put a new one on when I am unhappy with the one I have,

I vape Doppio Espresso (very thick) and can only get one fill to vape right when using a carto with polyfill. I'm currently trying to make a CE3 work for it.

If you leave the polyfill sitting in any juice it will eventually gunk up and block the air flow. That seems to happen before my JOYE 510 carto's attie degrades. I also think all plastic cartos are better than metal ones because plastic is a better insulator than metal. Less heat is lost to the outside air. However the plastic of the JOYE 510 carto will begin to melt after a day or so. Once again before it's attie degrades. Net result: I get less than two days out of JOYE 510 carto using typical density juice. But I like the JOYE 510 carto for many other reasons, so I tolerate it's short lifespan.

    HTH,

My experience has been that most cartos will last a long time if you:

    1) Use a clear or clearish juice that's 80% pg or more (thin).
    2) Top it off as soon as the vapor production drops off before getting a burning taste.

I'm getting between four and six weeks with XL stainless dual coils and the draw stays good 'till the end. That's with 3.7v and a 1.5 ohm dual coil. I couldn't do that with single coil LR cartos because the juice just can't wick fast enough to prevent an eventual burning taste. As for juice, Halo has burned very clean for me for weeks. I happened to find one of their juices that's my daily vape.

I think the juice you end up wanting every day decides the type of carto that works best. If it's thick and/or dark, dripping or tanks may be the only way to go. Keep it thin and wet and good luck on your hunt!

30 days for $3 for an EMDCC...that's 10 cents per day. Can't beat it IMHO!! I'm rotating two EMDCCs at the moment and am working on a month with them with various 80/20 juices through them. So much better than a Boge in terms of cost, TH, vapor and taste. Just my:2c:.

Cartos are friggin' cheap. My Boge 3.0Ωs cost me $1.20 and last a minimum of three days. That's $.40 a day. My IKV 801 Fusion cartos (I use those in my tanks) cost me $1.65 and last about 5 days. That's $.33 a day for the best carto I've found.
I'll say it again. Carto's are cheap.

edit: BTW, I toss them when they start to taste "not quite right". I don't wait for them to start clogging.
