 I accidently broke the charger for my inferno and I found another charger that fits, but the output power is a little bit different from the inferno charger. The inferno has a 5v DC output, while the other one is 6v, and I was wondering if that would be safe to use, atleast until I get the new one in.

Hi Mr.Anderson, Do you mean the USB section of your charger is broken? Like the part that plugs into the wall? If your inferno has an adaptor that screw to the top, then has a bit of cable that plugs into a USB power port that plugs into the wall then you could get by simply by pluging into a computer usb plug. Most larger local shops like Walmart,Kmart, BestBuy or even Sears sell a wall to USB 5V charger. I would avoid a 6v USB adaptor if you have any alternative. It probably would work but theres no real good way to know that it wouldn't cook your battery or charger extension.

Please do not plug into a laptop to charge. Will blow your port. Only use a desktop or tower to charge.
That is all......back to regular scheduled programming...

I have been charging my eGo type batteries for about a year and a half from a laptop at work without issues. Now I only plug in to charge while the computer is plugged in to the wall. My charger is rated for 420mAh, I have no idea what the laptop is capabe of. Go cautiously, at you own risk. The wall plug is still the best way to be sure no damaged computer parts.

Yes, you can use it. Even though the wall adapter is 6v, the inferno will only draw what it needs and it wont draw over 5v.

I believe that even though the wall adapter that volcano provides is 5v, the inferno only uses 1.5v

I use my iPad wall charger to charge mine and it works perfectly. My iPad wall charger is 10w, 2.2amp

Mroutlaw, forgive my for being blunt, but your post is wrong and could be very dangerous with lithium ion batteries and charging.

Mr Anderson, don't use a 6v source, will likely damage the charger and possibly the battery. You can use a computer USB port. USB 2.0 (used since 2000) can sustain a 500mA current without a problem. New USB 3.0 ports can sustain 750mA.

Without knowing the exact input voltage specs for the charger I don't think the risk is worth the reward when there are 5v USB sources in such an abundance these days. Even most new cars have a 5v USB port now.

All I can tell you is I have inquired about it to the company and that is what they told me. Why would they tell me I can use a 10w iPad USB wall charger on their battery if it would damage it since it is under warranty and they would replace it. When I purchased my device I asked them if I could use the iPad wall charger or do I have to buy their wall adapter. That was 3 months ago, and the battery still works perfectly.

I know several people who have said the same thing and use similar chargers on their kgo's, which is basically the same thing as the inferno
