The only downside for me is that the flavor from the cart that I was vaping, transfers over to the next cart. Which, I guess is not really a downside, but the stronger flavors overpower the lighter flavor for a little while. This is especially an issue when I am out and about. I know, I know, just tell me to stop whining and order 20 drip tips. Wait, then I would have to order another 20 batteries to match the drip tips! : )

Ms. Katz the biggest advantages are easier access for refilling, more air flow meaning more potential for vapor and th, and less chance of burning your lips (the delrin don't get hot, the aluminum do get warm if you chain vape on a wow carto). Biggest disadvantage, you could possibly lose it. :) No leak issues from what I've seen...

Not sure how a drip tip could transfer flavors? Unless your using one made from a very porous material?

It is mainly with the peppermint chocolate, which is my go to vape and if I switch it to like watermelon. I do soak in ethanol alcohol once a week, and clean out with a q-tip. And it is really not a negative thing, or even a problem, but just something that came to mind. Now that I have been vaping for awhile, I do have half a dozen drip tips! I love my drip tips!

I am confused about the logistics of using a drip tip with a 808. Do you remove the batting from the carto and essentially just use it as an atomizer, or do you fill up the cartomizer with your juice of choice, and then drip as you go to keep the batting freshly wet?
I drip with a 510 and eGo, but I use a straight atomizer with that setup rather than a cartomizer like on the 808.

Here, I recommend you watch this: (no audio)

YouTube - Refilling Vapor4Life Cartomizers (1:50 Drip Tip Mark)

To top-off, remove the Drip-Tip add a few drop, put the Drip Tip back on.

Drip tips are an absolute necessity on any non-cartomizer atty, but I have never understood the idea of using them on a cartomizer.

First, with a carto, when topping off you really need to see the filler to get it right - you drip on the filler on one side and you can see when its about full. One drop too many and you have to dab it off w/ some TP to get the best vape. Vaping over full reduces performance until the overage is vaped away and also increases the chance of burning. If you have to take the tip on and off anyway, why use it at all.

Second, the bore on most drip tips is a bit on the narrow side, juice can sometimes not make it all the way through you get a bit of juice in mouth when you draw it out.

Third, sometimes the carto guts sit a little too high to take the drip tip.

Fourth, cartos just don't leak unless they are flooded in which case you need to dab it off anyway. You could leave the top totally off and not have leakage in the pocket. The only real reason for covering it is to prevent lint from getting in the carto.

Fifth, cartos just don't need it. Pop the rubber cap off and there is your drip tip. They don't get hot like other atties so you don't need the lip protection.

The only reason I can think of is if you just like the look of a drip tip. That's my biased two cents anyway.

+1 for just throwing a condom over the tip when putting it in your pocket. I mean, that's really the biggest advantage cartomizers have over other atties - they don't leak and you can put them in your pocket. Any other atty in the pocket and you are asking to wear your juice like a perfume.

I love them!! It's so weird not to use one now and the carto gets hot. I use the delrin ones (ok, I only have one, but I'm going to get more). And I have also noticed leftover taste, mostly when transferring from menthol. I just stick a napkin in there to wipe it out and I'm gtg! I like the shape also, so much easier than the hard, round carto, very comfortable!
I take mine off to refill though, and it is much easier than having a paperclip around all the time to pop out the rubber piece.
ETA: I've never had any problems with leaking...and, dangit! I had something else to add, but now I can't remember what it was...hmmm, lemme think for a min.

Oh I remember!! The draw, and amount of vapor are greatly increased with the large hole of a dt! That was it! Although, I don't use them when I stealth because vapor leaks out of the carto and that's a dead giveaway if I'm trying to be sneaky!
Btw, I don't like "tailpiping" or whatever you want to call it. Just don't like it!! I love the drip tips!! I never thought I'd use one because I thought they were only used for dripping, but now that I've used them I don't think I could go back!

uzza, you are working on the premise that these are actual "Drip Tips" when in reality they are not. The reality is that these are Carto Tips and the name Drip Tips is simply another misnomer in the world of vaping. Quite similar to terms like .... plug or condom which would be better served and more accurately referred to as Air Tube Plug Cap or Carto End Caps.

I know of nobody that actually attempts to use the KR808 Drip Tips in a traditional fashion by actually leaving them on and dripping into. As well, after 100's of cartomizers I have yet to find a single Carto where the polyfill or atty wire was so high it impacted a fully inserted Drip Tip.

As for understanding the idea for using them on a Cartomizer....well there are already plenty of posts that delve into that subject. Perhaps you should chain vape a Wow Carto on a PT or 6v Mod to see if it's all really a matter of aesthetics.
