I was told manufacturers put a chip in e cig batteries so that the battery wears out eventually, and that generally the ego battery specifically, if you've used it a whole year, for example, it begins so that it won't hold a charge. This seems to be the case with the 3 I've had for over a year.

I was just wondering if this is true? that if they didn't put a chip in the battery could we make it last for more than a year perhaps. I mean, for some reason I get attached to the thing. can't bring myself to just throw it away. I already know other kinds of batteries only last up to 6 months with constant charging.

I just bought not too long ago a twist Ego battery and it's worn out faster than my original ego batteries, which I've worn the paint off of those 2 they lasted so long. therefore I'm not doing the variable voltage anymore.

my question is does anyone know of a battery that outlasts any of them on the market? I must say my collection is growing, but so far it's the original ego t, and the original go anywhere pencil battery that lasts the longest of the batteries. I'm a serious vaper too. so maybe I vape more than other people and expecting too much of the industry. I suppose they have to make their money somehow.

You may want to look at the KGO batteries from Hoosier Vapes. They are 3.7 volt & mine have lasted for many months without showing any signs of giving out yet. Plus they are reasonably priced.

I agree with Silverzero, A year seems like a pretty decent amount of time & they are gonna give out eventually.

The average life of the batteries is 250-300 full charge and discharge cycles - this is true for the mod batteries also (18650 aw imr). The batteries don't just stop working, they just start losing their ability to hold a charge - ie when new it would last for 8 hours and now is only lasting for 4 hours - it will quit working rather quickly once this starts happening - same issues as with most cell phone batteries also. I have ordered several ego style batteries from fasttech (under $7 each) to have as back ups for myself and friends. hope this info helps

All 3 of my Twists work beautifully. A lithium battery has a very finite life cycle. I agree with SilverZero that a year on an Ego sounds pretty good to me. All of mine are ~6months old, and the only reason I haven't bought new ones is b/c my Birthday is coming up and I know my wife is going to do it. I figure ~$75/year on batteries isn't too bad, and knew going in to it that everything will eventually have to be replaced. Sorry to hear about your twists...most of the folks I know here that vape also use twists and they have been fine AFAIK
