Hi Buzzards!

Question about the short run time I've been getting since using the LR801 attys from Sailebao on my beloved Buzz.

I'm only getting about 2-1/2 hours! Is this normal?

I'm using Gray TrustFire 880 mAh and seemed to be getting 6 hours when using a regular 801 atty (chain vaping all day). The batteries are coming off my charger and checked with my meter 4.24v fresh off the charger.

TYVM for your input.

Mike, PLEASE say you are ready to make a unit with a larger battery capacity for me to buy soon!!!! Two 14500 would be divine!!!!

can't speak to the 801s, but i just recently started using a lr 510, and i'm getting around 7 hours with the same batts. maybe your voltage is too high?

Are your batts getting older? could be the problem. batts will show a full charge many times but still under perform when loads are on them.
the sign of batts failing is just what you describe in many cases. 2 hours isnt right. get some new AWs..

Doots - Nope, 8 new batteries fresh out of shrink wrap and less than a month on them. All 8 of them run at 2-3 hours. I've had them as long as the Buzz. They charge up fully and discharge to where they should. Just checked 2 of them after about 30mins in the Buzz and they were at 4.2v.

I dug out 2 AWs, and just put them on (2:07pm) so I'll see how long they run.

Double checked Voltage. It is set at 4.02v. I figured I could go up to 4.2v since a Li-Ion runs that at a new charge. No?

The Ohms on the attys are around 1.6 - 1.7 on these LR801.

I thought mAh was run time period, no matter the watts/voltage/resistance. Hmmmm.

Regular 801 attys were running 6 hours on all the same batteries on the Buzz though I haven't put a regular one on since getting the LR attys on the 14th or so.

I had the PCB fail in the Buzz and sent it back to get it replaced (nice and quick repair done by NotCigs!). Since I've gotten it back, I'm only using my new LR attys only and noticed that the time is wayyyyy less on the batteries. Maybe another problem?

Anyone else using 801 LR attys on their Buzz? I was hoping that it was that the LR are pulling the power so quick? Arghhhhh! It's driving me nuts changing out the batteries!!! Maybe I need to email Mike.

EJoker - Good to see you in your uniform buddy! LOL  KWCharlie, I dressed him. ha ha.

Hellen the Buzz was never designed OR tested for LR atomizers , @ 4.0 volts and 1.7 ohms you will be drawing 2.35 amps of current that is why it is getting hot .
there is no real solution for this as the design if for 2.0 and above resistances.

2 hours does seem low however but I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with the unit , it works fine with regular atomizers so that tells me that it is performing correctly .

LR attys EAT CURRENT for lunch ! , it is possible that the atomizer is dropping in resistance during heating and is much lower that being measured when cold.
Do you have a ohm meter ? if so measure the atomizer resistance HOT and COLD and let me know.

Wow, I never saw anything about not being able to use LR (and see others say they use 510 LR with the Buzz). I just started using these on my Buzz a week ago (so that wasn't my initial PCB problem then). Hmmmm

Can I use LR if I turn it down to 3.75v?? I hope so (I just bought 50 of them! (And, I love them!!).

I do have a meter. Cold are 1.6v-1.7v.

Tell me how to measure it hot. I feel so stupid... lol. Do you mean just heat it up on the Buzz, pull it off and immediately measure the resistance when the wire is hot??

Hellen it is in the Manual LOL !
to measure them hot YA heat um up on the Buzz first then a quick measurement
turn the Buzz all the way down ( 10 turns to the left is min, voltage )
let me know how it works out :vapor:

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

From my copy of the manual (saved on my computer even!)

We recommend NOT using Low resistance atomizers, the Buzz works best with regular atomizers , there is NO NEED for low resistance atomizers.

Well, humpppph! I wasn't ever planning on LR attys... and an opportunity came along and I love them. So, I shouldn't use the LR on the Buzz even if I crank it down?

Ok, I'll play with it tomorrow (I have your voltage adapter so I can measure my voltage on the meter) and run them hot to see what it reads and post back later.

Thanks Mike.

You can run them but they always reduce battery life on anything ! , the reason is that they draw more current to heat up , batteries are current storage devices so the higher the drain of current the less time they will last.

We designed the Buzz for regular atomizers and higher voltages so you could TUNE the voltage to the atomizer .

The LR atomizers came out a short time ago ( while we were in development ) we realized that high current drain lowered battery life and decided to go towards a longer battery life design.

LR atomizers are a stop gap measure designed to increase vapor on a fixed 3.7 volt battery .

I hope that made sense ????

Just to follow up. All is well. Seems I'm better (if/when) I run my LR801 attys on the Buzz when I use the AW IMR batteries. Works better and won't stress out the batteries if I use IMRs. So not a problem... Just need to get a few more. Thanks BuzzKill.

BTW, The hot measurement is 1.5 on the LR801. Max drain rate of the TF batteries I have (1.32A) just won't keep up with the LR atty.

Also, I received some great info. from Drozd (thanks buddy!!) on just how all the amp, voltage, current and wattage work with the batteries and the different atomizers (and finally really get it, although I still hate math. LOL). I'll probably just burn through all my LR atties on my AW IMR 18650 batteries in another unit (the LR attys only last about 6-12 days anyway). After that I'll stick to my stockpile of 302/801 attys and turn up my Buzz.

Two more Buzz units on the way to Surprise, Arizona (that'll make 3). Had to have Purple and had to have a Silver 510 model. Yeah, I love da Buzz!!
