Question about nic level

Hey all. Just joined today and was hoping you could answer my silly(?) question. 7 weeks and no analogs! You all have been incredibly helpful on my journey so thanks for that. And nice too!! I love that there are very few silly opinion based fights on here, that's very rare in a forum situation.

I LOVE vaping and really don't want to ever go back to analogs. I've been going with 12-18mg nic level and it seems fine but if I went to 11mg (AIV White Rabbit to be exact) I seemed to lack that throat hit I love. I got scared and jumped right back to the higher nic level on all of my juices since. My setup is a twist with various clearomizers (stardust style, Kanger MT3, and iClear 16).

My question. Where does the throat hit really come from? Juice? Nic Level? Battery voltage? What sits on top of the battery? I went crazy and tried 24mg Bounty Hunter and wow that was too much. So that made me think it was nic level. I love driving and vaping cause that was my favorite place to smoke. I recently drove from Boston to LA and would have loved vaping instead of chain smoking my way across the country. So I feel I could get away with a lower nic level but I really need that throat hit or it doesn't satisfy me. AIV White Rabbit tasted pretty good but I felt I was just puffing on mildly tasty air.

Nicotine level primarily, and vapor temperature, which simply speaking comes from voltage.

throat hit comes from nic level, pg and juice properties mainly but voltage and delivery device also play a factor. lower nic level but w/ increased pg % will most likely give u the same throat hit as before -for ex go from 24 to 18mg but 50% pg up to 80% and ul get basically the same th.

i can tell u this for certain - 100% vg, 12mg nic = no throat hit whatsoever regardless of voltage, device, etc. so pg is very important for throat hit - I smoke 50/50 for just this reason (12mg) - gives me good th and mucho vapor.

Pg does not give throat hit per se, it is merely better than Vg in delivering the throat hit in nicotine. VG is too thick and thus masks the nicotine and flavor if used excessively.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if my throat is shot from 15 years of Camel Lights. I don't understand how "pro" vapers can vape on 6 or even 0mg? By pro I mean people who do this regularly and have some pretty hardcore setups. Do you feel anything or is it just for the taste?

I started at 26 mg and every 3 weeks I have been cutting my liquid with VG by 1mg. Doing it this way has been pain free. I NEVER could have just cut it down a bunch at a time. I am now at 14 mg without so much as a hiccup.

I do 6 during the day and 0 at night so nicotine wont interfere with my good night sleep. 6 is enough to give you a light relaxing effect. I also have unflavored concentrated nicotine liquid, so when i need an extra kick i just put a drop in my tank along with juices and shake real good - voila!

Are you a chemist? I feel that's a pretty exact science! I just read the label on the bottle Do you keep a bottle of VG around? Or are you making your own juice?

I used to smoke a pack a day of smokes and ive only been vaping for 3 weeks. I started out at 18 but thought it was too much. Went to 12 and thought that was still too much. Settled at 6mg. I can still mildly feel the nicotine and it doesn't irritate my throat. I think you will be fine if you were to go down to a lower nicotine level.

Vaping @ 2 mg nicotine with a high level PG and menthol added and I get plenty of "TH". Is it really a nic TH?.... many of us know PG to be an irritant and thus the TH with a higher PG level. Lower my PG level and no TH.

I've recently been having my version of a midnight snack, a 3am wake up and vape. Doesn't help I keep my pv right next to the bed I guess.

I recently tried juice from VaporRenu (the Swedish Fish is great!), and they offer an option to increase TH; I searched around for what they are using to increase TH without upping nic or PG:

Apparently, they use a bit of alcohol to up the TH, but that could mess with flavor and/or vapor a bit. Might be something to consider...

(As a newb, I want to try out VV's and other set-ups to adjust flavor/TH/vapor before trying the Everclear route)

Just keep at it and don't go back to analogs!

I've read about people adding vodka? I'm a recovering alcoholic so nooooooo way for me! 1 year and no booze, 7 weeks and no smokes. At nearly 30, this is the best I've felt in years.

So far in my trials, I've really enjoyed the ego twist with an iClear 16 clearomizer. You fill up very often but the taste and vapor production is better than any other I've tried. Nice and neat package for vaping in public, and it's very satisfying.
