Ok. So, I now have a good mod. I have a great tank. The flavor from my juices is the best I've ever tasted. It's time to zero in and find the perfect juice. The problem is when I'm in the store trying to find that right juice and they let me try their juice, they use tanks that aren't very good. I try the juice and like it, fork over my money, take it home, fill my tank, puff away and it doesn't taste how I anticipated. In one case it was great in the store's cheap atomizer and tasted like a scratch and sniff sticker in my nice setup.

Any advice on how to nail down a juice or is it just trial and error despite the tasting stations?

It's primarily trial and error unless you have an RDA.

Some/many shops I've been to offer open bottles (which is fantastic if you're an RDA user) so that you can drip directly onto your setup to try the juices. Obviously, for a tank setup, this isn't really practical, but y'know. Just sayin'.

Also many juices in stores/available for trial have been sitting there for a while, so they're pretty naturally steeped to a good degree, which may have some influence on the difference in flavor.

This might be the key. Put your "scratch-and-sniff" juice on a shelf or in a drawer (anywhere cool, dark, and dry) and let it sit for a week or two or ten, and see if it doesn't start to taste more like what you remember from the store.
