The X2 does have the passthru feature. You would plug the USB portel into a wall plug and the wall plug into your electrical outlet. Plug the small end into your battery and now it is charging as you vape on it. Not a true pass through but close enough.

If your battery was very low you would have to let it charge up a bit to start using it as a pass through.

+1. I'm running with it tethered to my computer right now, after being out for the last 14 hours. I'll shift to the wall charger when I shut the computer down (in about five minutes) and let it finish charging overnight.

I recommend that you never plug it or anything not computer related into your computer. While I have never heard of a problem with SI batteries in a computer, there are threads on this site with stories of people frying their comps from plugging e-cig batteries into the USB ports.

Not worth the risk to me. You should have a available outlet or powerstrip near the computer anyway.

But, yes, you can use these to vape while plugged into a charger.

Thanks guys!

Another question if you guys don't mind, I want to buy another battery for home use as I don't want to bring something big outside to vape...so when I'm outside I will be using my 78mm auto and manual. Would a X2 be better for me or a Spinner? I figured the X2 would be better for home use because of the passthrough, but the Spinner seems awesome with the voltage control, so any input from people that have experience with both will be awesome!

Thanks in advance!!!

It does kind of depend. I have both, the Volt and the Spinner.

I like both. :)

The Volt has the advantage that it'll never run out of power if used as a passthrough. The Spinner has the advantage of variable voltage. It kind of depends on my mood. 90% of the time, I use the Volt X2. But I vape a LOT.

A 1,300 mAh Spinner should last, reasonably, 10-12 hours of normal use before requiring a recharge. For most of us, that's all evening and more.

Available power is kind of at a premium in my home office. Hey, I have to plug my seed starting mat in somewhere! :)

I should have clarified, I use a powered USB hub. Cheap. Worst-case, it'll blow the hub and I'll replace that. But the hub has a resettable fuse and should be just fine--particularly with the Volt X2 and the controlling electronics (barring failure).

I'd never put a battery-free passthrough on USB unless it's a nice, 2-3 amp plug in USB power source!

The traditional passthrough (with no internal battery) needs 1.5 amps, but the X2 only needs about 0.2 amps. It doesn't draw vaping power from the USB port, it just charges the battery. They're two different things that work differently. The problems with zapped motherboards and what have you I believe referred to the traditional (no battery) passthroughs.

In choosing between the X2 and the Spinner, I would pay the little extra for the Spinner. I'm sure it's an anomaly, but the last X2 I got runs a little hot and burns my cartos. If it were a Spinner, I could just dial it down. On the flipside, T3s seem to work better for me on the hotter X2 than they do on the other ones, so sometimes it's nice to be able to dial it up too. I'm eventually switching all my batts to Spinners, and the only reason I don't have one yet is because the colors I want don't come out 'til March.
