Question about upgrading.

I have been using ego style, 900 mah batteries, with evods and protanks and a couple of ce5's. I want to upgrade and have been looking at possibly at a Vamo. I've heard good things about it and it isn't too expensive.
I also want to start doing my own e juice and would like a dripping atty to try the juices as I make them. I was told a rda would be better than just a regular dripper since I told them that I was going to start rebuilding my protank heads. They said a rda would be easier to rebuild and I could get a feel for doing the protank heads.
What should I get?

I have talked to a few people on the chat and now I am more confused than ever. I want a v v but someone recommended a K101 for using a rda instead of a vamo. But I don't know if it is v v, it didn't say in the definition on the site I went to.
I know I can get a vamo with batteries and charger for about $60 is there anything that would be better than the vamo for around that price? I also like the fact that the vamo can show the ohms of the rebuilt heads, I was hoping to buy an ohm meter later when I can afford it, but for now I figured the vamo would work for that.

I already found a place to get 32 gauge a-1 kanthal wire and 2 mm and 3 mm silica wick for rebuilding heads, so the bottom line is what would be the best set up for me on a v v and dripping atty? Remembering the fact that I can't afford a ProVari at this point.

My price range is about $100. That would be including the v v, dripping atty, batteries and charger.

On the RDA, it really all depends on you. I use a simple dripping atty that costs about $6 to test juice. I rinse it out in the sink between juices, shake it as dry as I can and gently dry burn a couple of times to get it a bit dryer still. Really easy. I would only buy a RDA if I wanted to use it for regular vaping. IMO, the very minor plus of learning to build coils on it is not worth it if all I was doing with it was testing juice.

If you do not get a RDA, I would buy the Vamo. Suggest you buy the Vamo only, not the kit with batteries and charger and buy Panasonic CGR18650CH or AW IMR batteries and a Xtar WP2 charger for around $20, or another good charger. That will be well under $100.

If you do want to go the RDA route, a lot depends on what resistance you will be making your coils. If you want to build sub-ohm coils, you will be better off with a mechanical mod like the K101 because regulated mods will not handle the low resistances. Mechanical mods do not have any electronics in them, so no VV or VW, battery voltage will change as they discharge, no power limiting safety features, no low voltage shut-off, no 10 second limit to firing the coil, etc. It's all up to you to handle manually. If you do decide to go this route, there is a lot of great information in the RBA forum here. You will want to make sure you understand about how battery voltage and coil ohms affect amps drawn from the battery and make sure your battery can handle that output with a safety margin for shorts.

If you do want to go the RDA route, I suggest you stay at or above 1.5 ohms with your coils and stick with the Vamo. It will be great for all your other tanks, clearos and cartos. You can explore micro coils if you want more performance out of the RDA. There is a great thread on micro coils here.

Hope this helps a bit and best of luck with it!
