There are a lot of options, I can only tell you what works for me: either an LR 510 atty (1.5 to 1.9 ohm) at 4.2v to 4.8v, or an SR atty (2 to 2.9 ohm) at 4.8v to 5.5v, or an SR+ atty (3 to 3.5 ohm) at 5.5 to 6 volts.

Use a solid 510-to-510 adapter (2 stacked sometimes) plus a dripshield. The bottom O-ring of the dripshield sits on the adapter, and the top O-ring at the top of the atty. Plus a driptip to suit yourself, my favourites are SS metal ones.

I add 2 bonuts to the inside of the atty as this allows them to hold more liquid and feed it smoother, IMO. In the old days we de-bridged and de-wicked atties as the vape was a whisker too cool at 3.7 volts, there is no need to do this now as we have VV to heat it up.

This rig takes maybe 8 or 10 drops at a time, so it lasts well compared to a bare atty. If you get good quality 510 atties then there is probably no need to spend more on specialist ones, but that again is a matter of opinion. Everything in this game depends on getting qood-quality gear in any case. Even so I don't usually get any better than 3 or 4 good atties from a 5-pack. They last for months though as long as you rotate them throughout the day, and if you don't clean them out viciously for new flavours all the time. There is no need to do dry burns or stuff if you do this, that's what shortens their life. Now we have good VV gear there is far less need to clean them, the higher voltage does that for you.

An alternative, if you prefer atties to cartos or clearos etc, is a BF boxmod or BF VV boxmod. This is probably the perfect atty set-up. For me the perfect rig is a VV feeder boxmod, it is atty heaven.

Now wait for the 93 other opinions :) -- They are all valid, you have to try it and see what suits you.

Yeah sorry bout that. I don't like doing links for various reasons, it may be better if others do that.

Anyway I guess some have to be given here or it doesn't work too well...

Bonuts are stainless steel pipescreens rolled up then bent to a horseshoe shape to slide down into an atty. They act as an extra wick or liquid holder, the advantage is they are SS not silica or whatever, so they can't degrade. See:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/287117-bonuts-dripping.html

It's probably best to use a solid 510 adaper in any/every APV as that stops any liquid getting to the connector. Although many connectors are sealed, even so it's best not to get liquid in the connector as eventually it may degrade the silicone insulator around the centre pole. You can get away with one adapter, with many dripshields; some might need 2 as they are too long.

Adapters:

Dripshields:

These are just an exterior tube that goes around an atty + adapter. They hold any leaks, plus you can get a bit more liquid in as they act as a reservoir as well. The air holes go at the top end. They have an O-ring at top and bottom (internally) that seals each end. The bottom one needs to seat on the adapter, so that the adapter-atomiser join is contained.

So a good dripper rig (for me - and on a tubemod or non-feeder boxmod, not a BF boxmod) has an atty, a solid adapter, a dripshield, a couple bonuts, and a driptip. YMMV :)

To use one in a feeder boxmod, you can't have the solid adapter as it won't feed through. Also you don't need a dripshield as the boxmod itself has that built in (or should have). Feeder boxmods (BF or bottom feed or liquid reservoir boxmods that have a bottle in them) always have a bund (engineering speak for a liquid retaining wall), i.e. a drip cup or dripcatcher or drip collar. Without that they leak everywhere. So in a feeder boxmod you just need the atty and driptip.
