I just started DIY and am still working out the bugs for recipes. My question is this: I screwed up and bought the wrong nic-I bought 100%PG rather than 100%VG. I like more VG in mine-like 70VG-30PG. If I am making a 5ml bottle using 36 mg strength nic in PG, how can I make it a higher concentration of VG without muting the flavor so much? I have TFA flavorings that taste weak when I mix them at 20% in 50/50 juice.

I need to make a 70/30 mix with a higher flavoring percentage, how can I do it with what I have? I'm fairly decent in math but have no experience with algebra or chemistry calculations. Also I don't want to waste the nic I already bought because I can't buy anymore until payday.

Another question-does anyone use TFA Maxx Blend and is it a tobacco flavoring or an enhancer?

Thanks to everyone who responds!

A couple of things.
1. 20% Flavor is pretty high (I usually start at 5% and add more as needed) if you think it's weak it's possible that you are using too much. Flavor can be strange where if you add too much at times it tastes weak.
2. Most TFA flavors are PG based and if your using 20%, the most you can use of your Nic solution is 10% to stay within your 30% PG limit.

Try downloading this juice calculator and give it a whirl:

Cheers,
Steve

Edit I've found when using a high VG mix it can take longer for the flavor molecules to combine with the thicker VG. In other words steeping may help.

Edit 2 Here's a link to a TFA flavor thread for single flavor mixes. See post 1671 for a rough idea on what people think is the best % for a certain flavors in a single flavor mix

I did the same thing when I started, it ended up being that I couldn't get (exactly) to where I wanted to be with what I had and I ended up having to order more nic in the VG base that I should have gotten to begin with. Nothing is going to waste however because I use the calculator and mix both the PG and VG nic with my VG base and I mix to either 30pg 70vg or 20pg 80vg.

The closest I could come was
2.8 ml of 100mg PG
5.2 ml of VG base
For 8ml of 35mg 35% pg 65% vg

Play around with the calculator see what you come up with.

I too like a 30/70 PG/VG mix. I have 100 mg/ml nic in pure PG. I can usually get to my desired level (I only do 12 mg/ml), but sometimes I have to bump it to 32/68 or the calculator gets mad at me. It doesn't like negative numbers. The reason I buy my nic in PG is the VG is hard to work with. I don't really get the protective gear on until the last step, which is adding the nic. Easier to do even straight out of the fridge with a 20 gauge needle when it's in PG.
