I'm looking to get my dad a Blu pack because I was really intrigued by E-Cigs. He's been smoking for about 30 years now and it's really catching up to him. I don't want him to leave us early if you know what I mean. Back to the point, I've never heard of E-Cigs before and it sounded like a genius invention. I hastily put an order on a starter pack and was glad to wait the 10 or so business days (or so they say) for the pack to arrive. That's when i stumbled onto this site and read all the bad reviews on it(seems I was reading good reviews from Blu Affiliates).

My question to all the kind people here at ECF, in terms of overall experience, is Blu worth my time, or would i be better off canceling my order and picking up another brand of E-Cig? I don't want my dad's first experience to be a bad one, he might not be so inclined to try another.

My husband is in his 50's and sometimes is a little challenged when it comes to new things. I was afraid he wouldn't take to the ecig at all so I got him what I thought was the easiest to deal with which was a 901. He has done great with it. Just my opinion but with all that I've heard and read I would seriously consider canceling the Blu order and getting him something else. I am reading that the 510's are doing great and I'm thinking about getting one of those for myself

You should get a lot more answers from people that have actually gotten their Blu though and hopefully that will help you to make up your mind. Oh, great job at carrying for your father and thinking about him!

I see alot of bad reviews on blu malfunctions around here. All I can say is I have no mechanical issues with my 510.........good throat burn and vapor like a cigarrette. Batteries are weaker than some other models but 2 or 3 in rotation has caused me no problems

Whatever you get most people buy juice and and spare carts to refill instead of prefilled carts.

I've never had any problems with my Blu. Customer Service is slow/shady at best. The physical product, IMHO, is quite impressive. The problem is that the carts that come with the Blu will NOT get your father off of cigarettes. It took 36mg nicotine juice to get me off analogs, and I think Blu's high nic carts are 18mg. Good luck!

I was a pack a day smoker. I received two E-cigs on the same day, both with light nicotine, the Blu, and a 901. I was intrigued with the Blu because of the charging case and the website made it sound great.

I have been using them for 2 weeks now.

I like my 901 alot. Decent throat hit is important to me. I get pretty good vapor from it.

I do not like the Blu. I get almost no vapor. I have to inhale very slow, for very long, on a new cart to get vapor. After a handful of puffs, I cant get hardly any vapor from it at all. I tried 2 atomizers and it is the same. The carts are ridiculous how fast they are through. I like the fact that it has the PCC, but that is it.

I am glad that Blu had a 2-3 week wait, because I got impatient and bought the 901 (which came in 3 days from esmokey). If I would have only had the Blu, it would have ruined my E-cig experience, and I would be smoking analogs still. The 901 gave me the crutch I needed to get off them.

YMMV, but this is how I feel about it, and if your dad has been smoking for a long time, get him something with more hit to it.

My wife has been using the blu 2-3 times a day a work, since I will not use it and she complains about the carts and vapor being bad.

I was also relatively knew to ecigs, (2 pack a day smoker) and found out about them from my 15 year old of all people (guess he didn't want me leaving early either). He saw something on the web and thought they were cool, I thought it was a waste of time. Couple of months later I found myself ordering the Blu. Unfortuntely I got tired of the wait and after stumbling onto this site cancelled and ordered the 510 manual switch.

I like the 510 as far as the vapor and what not but the battery life leaves LOTS to be desired, thinking about the 901 or maybe I just need extra batts. Whatever you get for your dad, be sure to get extra batteries, the most frustrating thing is having to resort to analogs due to a batt not being properly charged (tastes nasty now).

You also have to be sure to let him know that NO ecig will taste like a 'real' cig. How could it? No burning trash? This is what took me some time to get used to. I was a brand Monkey and wanted my cigs to taste a certain way, which kept me on premiums long after the tobacco tax. I think he can do it.

Best of luck.

If you want your Dad to transition off of cigarettes then DO NOT get him a Blu or any super mini PV (personal vaporizer)!!! Rule of thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

You also must understand there is a learning curve with PV's. I would suggest your Dad should watch some of the new member video's on this site to help him learn how to use these. Also many of us truely transitioned from cigs to PV's by cutting down on cigs while getting use to the PV's. I was a pack and half a day smoker and went to 8 a day immediately but didn't quit completely until I got one of the better PV's, the Screwdriver.

I would STRONGLY suggest you get him a manual switch PV where you push a small button and heat up the atomizer as much as you want as you inhale. These types feel much more like the real thing because the vapor is warmer and they also hold up much better than the auto switch PV's.

Others have suggested the Joye 510/Janty Dura-C which is a good manual PV well liked on this fourm. And I agree it would be a good starting point for your Dad. Here are a few reputable suppliers:

e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's
www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
RUYAN Brown e-cigar with 25pc Cartridges - RUYAN e-cigar kit - Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop

Here are links to the best PV's made. They cost more but the batteries cost only $2 to replace and you go through batteries quick with PV's, these batteries give you a 6-8 hours of vaping instead of 2-3 with most PV's and they have great throat hit and vapor.

The Big Five in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Kit / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette e-liquid shop
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: Janty USA
LV/ZiMoshi: Zi Moshi Home

You definitely want to get him some liquid to refill the carts with. Prefilled carts do not taste very good and are way more expensive than the liquid. The filler in the carts can be washed out with warm water and reused and you can get polyfill from WalMart to replace the filler in the carts, also. And atomizers only last a few weeks to a few months, so get extra atomizers, also.

Good Luck

I would also suggest the VX2 from LITECIG USA I have a Dura: love it, and I have the VX2: love it. What I don't know is whether or not your dad, as you describe him, will want to fool with the manual button on the Dura. The batteries also suck, so he will constantly be fooling with them. The VX2 has great vapor, great throat hit, and longer lasting batteries. Either choice is good. Just consider the two problems with the Dura for someone who may not enjoy the manual button.

I ordered the Blu cigs, off the recomendation of a friend of mine. It is the first e-cig i have ever tried and i have NO experience with any other brand.

I love them. They are keeping me off my cigs (I was smoking a popular dark colored brand of cloves, i would go through about 5 a day) I dont feel the need to smoke regular cigs anymore. The carts are small, but you can refill them with your own juice with a bit of research.

Otherwise, I think they are great, but i have only had mine a few days. If it breaks down i will let you know

If you like it I would get spare parts as soon as you can. I currently have 7 working PV's and 2 pipes, and once a couple more orders come in I will have 10 PV's, which is plenty for both the wife and I. I stopped analogs after I got my Blu, but when the atty died I had to go back until I could get something else. I never want to go back to regular cigarettes again.

I got my Blu Cig, back on June 15th of this year. After a month of waiting for it, I was quite happy the the product. But in the past few weeks this have been going a bit downhill.

First, one of the batteries has now completely died. It will not hold a charge at all. Shortly after that, the atomizer started to fail because the good battery is now unable to power it.

I contacted Blu Cig, for customer service and the helpful technician walked me though troubleshooting it and was able to figure out what was wrong.

Now for the bad part of this review. The technicial that I spoke with stated that he would be able to get me a new part out in 48hrs. This was on July 8th. I called back on the 10th and was told that it had been shipped, unfortunately they didnt have the tracking number so I could call back the next day and get that, and they would email it to me.

I called back on the 11th, and to much my dismay, the replacement parts have not been shipped and will not for approx 2 - 4 weeks. This is quite a huge difference in the 48 hours that I was told by the first technician.

If you have a Blue Cig, and are starting to see any kind of issue, call them now, because by the time it stops working, you may have a replacement part.

Hey, I also got a Blu for my first PV and was somewhat dissappointed at first. The Blu cart, IMHO don't work very well. I started dripping and that works great. Battery life does kinda suck, but the PCC helps. Not terrible product, but with shipping time, cost, and customer service overall from the company, I would suggest getting one from somehwere else. Might want to start with something like a 901 or a 510 from another supplier. Check out the Supporting Suppliers section.
