Quick list of tips to make a blu work nicely:

1. buy better liquid. The liquid in blu's carts tastes nice, but doesn't work well in my experience. I have had good success with Johnson Creek, ECOpure from Intellicig (available from InnoVapor and others), and most recently, Decadent Vapours, my new favorite. If you want more vapor, use liquids with a high vegetable glycerine (VG) content.

2. Refill carts. Use a straightened paper clip to poke through the hole in a blu cart's mouthpiece and push out the transparent inner cart. Remove all the plastic and foil from the lip. Pull out the filler, rinse it, dry it, and push it back in, and refill the cart (not too full) with the better liquid you're using because you're following tip #1. Bonus: replace the stock filler with something that wicks better, like Fluval or (my favorite) PET from Lipton Pyramid tea bags. Other bonus: replace blu's carts entirely with 306a carts, which work with blu atomizers and batteries and are, despite one leaking incident, currently making me very, very happy.

3. Learn to pull. The blu has a very light draw. Pull slowly and carefully, and give the blu's atomizer time to vaporize the liquid and add it to your air intake. If you're doing it right, you'll actually hear the liquid sizzling as it's vaporized. If you want to tighten up the draw, use a thick liquid (such as ECOpure), and you can also cover one or more of the four air intake holes (right where the battery meets the atomizer) with your fingers.

Please note that yes, these are hoops to jump through, but they are more or less the same hoops people jump through for other models of e-cig-- buying liquids, refilling carts, etc. Crazy as it sounds to most, I am actually far more satisfied overall with my modded blu than I am with my 510-- the 510 puts out great vapor and throat hit, but I find it too big, too clumsy to use all day, and generally too inconvenient, and it seems to mess with my flavors a lot, too. I leave the house in the morning with a loaded blu pack (one e-cig ready to go, five extra differently-flavored carts with atomizers attached, and an extra blu battery) and I'm set for the day.
New eCig user, I bought Blu because of the design aesthetics, 30 day money-back guarantee, and 1 year warranty. I'll have to look deeper in to your advice once I buy my first e-liquid.

I also love the PTB in my blu, but the way you describe doing it just sounds like way too much work...

I just cut the 3 seams to get one really long rectangle.
I then cut that in half (accross the 50 yard line of a football field)
So I get 2 fillers for each PTB

I then use a toothpick to roll one of them up lenghtwise (from endzone to enzone)
Then let it loosen itself up a bit. This part will be trial and error to get the right size of the roll. You want the finished roll to be just a tiny bit bigger than the inside of the inner cart. So after you put it in, it fits snugly. But not so big that you really have to squish and push to get it in.

So after it's rolled up, and loosened a bit, Squish it so it's flat. This is the part that should be just slightly bigger than the inside of the cart.
Now fold it in half.
Insert the Creased side into the cart and push it all the way down.
Trim off the excess with a good pair of scissors.
Then pull it back out with tweesers while maintaining the fold
and trim just a tiny bit more off the end (non creased side)
Seriously, trim just a Tiny tiny bit, like no more than the thickness of your toothpick (probably half that much).
Put it back in, fill - er - up

DO NOT OVERFILL, stop filling when you see it start to pool at the top.
Then dab off the excess juice with a paper towel.

I plan to do a video at some point..

FYI I went down to petsmart here in Houston, picked up some of the white Fluval foam. I found it works MUCH better in my Sidesho than the blue foam. It's a fit firmer so it doesn't squish as much when it gets used repeatedly and stop wicking. I've been able to vape my TV "Strawberry Cheesecake" about 95% gone before refilling.

(Sidenote: It took me about 3-4 tries, cutting one, throwing it out after a few hours, etc, to get the perfect size. For me that was exactly as wide, a little thinner, and a touch, a mm or 2, shorter than the cart. I found it worked best when it just filled the interior without being squished up at all.)

There's no real need for a video.

1) take out clear inner cart
2) place clear inner cart on foam
3) cut foam to be approximately the same size as interior of said clear inner cart and a tad (1/8th of an inch or so) shorter
4) place fluid in cart, squish foam down and let it re-expand so it absorbs fluid, put more fluid in until it is about at the top of the foam
5) push inner cart into outer cart. Smoke.

Most of it is just trial and error
