Afternoon Ladies,

Ok this is really embarassing but as anyone noticed that their appetite increased with these e-cigs? For some reason I find myself constantly hungry and have gained 3 lbs, ouch!:( Ive only been vaping a little over 3 weeks and have continued to smoke one analog a day, but this weekend Ive been smoking 3 or more in conjunction with the e-cig.

Do you think it might have something to do with the sweetness of the cartos? I know it sounds strange. Ive been going between both PG & VG cartos, mostly 555, wowboy, and dunhall 8, 11, & 18mgs. Both types of cartos have a sweet flavor to me. Honestly I just got done making Quiche and ate half of it. Double Ouch, and Im still looking for more food. Arrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!! 8-o

I know sometimes when you eat sweet foods, or candy, it will make you crave more which is why I related this problem to the sweetness of both types of cartos. So now Ive grabbed a glass of H2o and an analog.

Ive noticed since I started e-cigs something has been missing. I don’t know if it’s the actions that go along with analogs that Im missing, but I do know Ive never craved food 24hrs a day while smoking them.

I hope one of you ladies or the guys have an answer to this. Im going to do some exercises and stay the hell out of my kitchen. LOL….

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have a couple of ideas about this;

vaping sweet flavors makes you think about sweets
• e-cigs don't contain the MAOI's to keep you happy without snacking

But the polls show no correlation:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/114722-vaping-weight-loss-gain-same.html

I've gained ten pounds this year, but I've also been unemployed during this time and I used to have a very fast paced, high stress job that left little time for food consumption during the day.

The good news is that we now have the lung capacity to exercise if we want... nothing worse than gaining weight and not being able to walk around the block without having to stop to catch our breath.

I've only been vaping for 4 days but I haven't noticed any changes with my appetite. I've always been a snacker so I'm always munching on something. BUT my snacks consist of fruits, nuts and seeds and they don't seem to increase my weight.
Stay away from the sodas regular OR diet, and anything with sugar. Believe me it's more satisfying to eat healthy snacks and your sugar levels won't be all over the place making you have more cravings. Give it a try!

I have been vaping for roughly 2 weeks so far, and have actually noticed my appetite decrease even more then when i smoked regular analogs, the sweet fruit/desert flavors curb my random snacking just for flavor. When i get an urge for a cookie i just take a drag on my tasty finger cartomizer or chocolate peppermint. It has also helped me cut way down on my diet coke intake since i used diet coke as a 'sweet snack for my taste buds' drink, now i'm drinking ice tea lightly sweetened with sweet and low more often to stay hydrated.

Maybe what you are missing is the smokey savory after flavor of regular analogs, should maybe try a vapor that has more bitter/tangy under tone or even a smoked flavor if any exist (i'm a sweet tooth girl so i don't know what kind of unsweet flavors there are avalible. Most people that quit smoking also begin eatting more due to idle hands, when your muscle memory remembers you putting things up to your mouth it wants to continue doing so, leading to putting more foods in your mouth instead of analogs. taking up some kind of crafting hobby can help with this, keeps your hands quite busy, or you can try vaping more of a lower MG strength or even a 0 mg strength just to keep that muscle memory happy.

The only thing i miss about analogs so far is the first cig of the day buzz which i don't get from vaping. Definately dont miss the taste or smell of analogs! I highly suggest you research non sweet vapes if you find what your craving most from your kitchen are salty and savory items. Good luck kicking the analogs!

I have my coffee and e-cigs but for some reason the last 2 days I have just wanted to eat not hungry maybe our taste buds are coming back and everything is just tasting better...

I also wonder if some women might have more trouble with this during PMS or other parts of their cycle. I know that for me I've always had a problem with overeating (particularly carbs and sweets) during PMS and it seems that my analog cravings go through the roof during that time. So maybe something with hormones?

Yep...I noticed a increase the first 30 days. I don't necessarily think I was hungry, but just wanted something...???
Snacked all day long...gained a little, but not much. After the 30 or so first days, it started to subside.

Now, all is normal and I also think I eat less. And the good thing, now that I have totally quit the analogs,
I can now exercise a little without the ambulance waiting in the driveway.

Happy Vaping!!

I initially lost about 15lbs when I started vaping, but I've gained it back. Things have been very stressful at work lately and well...I'm a stress eater. I'm tired of not being able to fit in my skinny jeans, so instead of buying a ProVari with my bonus I joined 24 Hour Fitness and splurged on a personal trainer. Might as well, since I don't smoke anymore!

To start off I am 57 years old and have been overweight all my life. I smoked for 10 years then quit cold turkey for 13 years. I started smoking again when life pushed me to move out and get a divorce. That was 13 years ago. Now with vaping I was able to walk away from the cigarettes for good.
I found that my habit while smoking was to grab my drink, usually iced tea during the day, coffee mornings and night, and my cigarette. I have only smoked outside since 2003. So, I would drink and smoke in one setting. I really needed the drink to keep my mouth from getting dry. I did not enjoy a cigarette without drinking.
With vaping I can easily spend 5 minutes with my e-cig without a drink. It is an after thought. Something I usually do in between my vaping times. I really have to keep myself dehydrated and remember to drink!
Maybe you need to be sure to grab a drink with your e-cig. Make yourself drink while vaping.....just a thought.

I think it's pretty safe to say that this is the point in the thread when all the guy's scrambled to exit stage left

I have eaten less, partially because my "sweet tooth" is taken care of by vaping. I also will remark that I always have a glass of water , or tea nearby (coffee in the morning!) when I start feeling hungry, I usualy take a couple sips of water and for some reason the craving leaves. Vape, drink, vape drink, seems to be the way things go. I do find I am more prone to want sweet vaping liquids tho.. I occasionally get a craving for the fruit flavors , but then sweets take over lol.

I think the drinking has something to do with not having to go find food. my biggest issue is chain vaping. I find I have to consciously remind myself NOT to press that dang button every five seconds!

Oh, you mean "chocolate week" ?

I eat chocolate every day. Lol.

I'm drinking a lot less diet coke since I started vaping.
Water is the only thing I find drinkable now.
My dr and dentist will like that. I have about a dozen crowns and weak bones from decades of soda drinking.

Same Here. Can't smoke w/o diet coke.
Can vape w/o anything to drink.

Well I thank all of you ladies, and the guys for their expected comments. LOL. I really thought about this while I was exercising. PMS isnt a problem for me anymore, had surgery 10 yrs ago, however I swear I still get those strange monthly pangs once in a while. We are also into Lent and like a good little Catholic girl, (i did survive Catholic school, barely) Ive given up chocolate, chips, pop, I do this every year with no problems, I actually look forward to the weight loss. But I was smoking last year and this year Im not smoking as many analogs. I agree with all of your ideas, I just need to keep my hands busy and try some different cartos. Its the whole ritual of smoking that is throwing my system off. Im hoping TexasGranny is right and this will subside once I find a new ritual with my e-cig. Thanks again for all of the support, I knew I could count on my vaping sisters.
