Ok, so I want to do some playing around now. Are RBA as simple as just dripping your juice through the drip tip onto the coil and wick setup? I would love to try it but I haveno experience with that sort of thing. I do know how to read an Ohm meter and I already have 32g kanthal coming for rebuilding my Protank and evod coils. What else is there to know? Is there a section on rda for noobs? Thanks a lot

Alrighty then. Thanks for all of the info Baditude. So here is my concern. I was thinking of trying it with Coils of at least 1.8 ohm resistance. I am not ready for sub-ohm stuff and I know that. I have an Innokin itaste VV 3.0, would that drive an RDA with a coil in the 1.8-2.2 range? Or do they require more voltage than it will supply? The Innokin will go up to 5.0 volts. I posted that on the Blog you linked but figured I'd get a quicker answer here.

Absolutely... no problem.

Never dripped on my RBA, it's too dangerous while driving. I just bottom feed it.

Is use micro coils on my IGO-L. Super_X_drifter has a great video on how to set them up here. Leave the wick longer at both end than he does because you're not using a bottom feeder. IMO these perform better than normal coils at resistances in the range you are interested in working with.

Have fun and let us know how it goes! :smokie:

My only fear about micro coils is I'm damn near blind. LOL I have a hard time rewicking my Mini protank coil. I had to go out and buy some reading glasses so I could see the damn things well enough to get a wick through. And thank you for the input.
Right there with ya' on the farsighted issues. Luckily, I have a high end stereoscopic pair of glasses (from "another life") that work very well with iddy biddy things. ;-)

I'm with both of you on this one. I'm not sure what stereoscopic glasses are State O' Flux, but I have one of these cheap magnifiers and it works very well for me. I couldn't work comfortably with RBAs even without it.

Stereoscopic glasses (or visors) allow the use of both eyes... like normal vision, just up close and magnified. Stupid expensive Triplet LB0101 glasses are what I have... they were actually given to me to do a job, and no one asked for them back when I was done. Silly people. ;-)

You can probably find others for around $100 give or take if you search.

ok at the risk of mixing hobbies here. I have used an OTT light for years for my fine needlework. They have a very natural glareless light that makes working with tiny things much easier. Warning they are NOT cheap.

maybe one of the smaller models for a desktop (I have the floor lamp) would help?

They must be fantastic at that price! I'll stick to mine at $12.95 plus shipping. Do the job just fine and the light really helps. I wouldn't want to drop them too many times though.

Got my new Igo-L. It came with dual coils(reading 1.7 OHM)already in it. I first tried it at 8.0 watts and it seemed a little weak. I upped the watts bit by bit and it just seemed a little harsh after a while. I finally settled on running it at 8.5 watts and I guess I just needed more juice on it. It does pretty well. I don't get the huge clouds I have seen on these but I have not opened up the air hole to 1/16th like I have seen suggested several times. I plan on doing that and I will rebuild the coil with a single 10 wrap micro coil on 32g. I'm shooting for 1.5-2 ohm

I purchased a igo L today. Dual setup read 1.9. Took that right off.

Then I washed it up, drilled to a 16th, and put a 28g 1mm ID .8 nano on cotton.

Slapped that bad boy on a magneto. I'm thoroughly impressed.

Yup, I had the same experience. The problem though is that it makes non RBA/RDA devices kinda blah. But then no-one said we had to back to those anyway :smokie:
