Okay - nobody can accuse me of being technically jargon proficient. I was going to say 'thingie' but figured 'piece' was a better choice. Anyhoo ... here is my question. Is it normal for the metal contact to have a sharp bend right at the very end of it? Just wondering because sometimes I have a bit of a hard time getting it to fire - have to press a couple of times for it to make contact. So was wondering if I should straighten that bent tip although I'm also afraid of breaking it off.

And while I am at it, is there an easy way to fix the button rotation from the on and off position? If I'm going to fiddle might as well tackle two little things at the same time. I find that if the button turns just the tiniest bit from the on position (as often happens just through normal vaping) then I find myself in the 'off' position. Would love to have a bit more leeway here if possible.

Needless to say, neither of these issues has been enough to take the 'glow' off my REO :D - just thought I'd finally get around to asking about these two minor issues and see if I can take perfection up just a notch. LOL

Yes, the tip of the firing pin is supposed to be bent. If it's misfiring, here's what you need to do: take a nail file and run it over that little bent tip a few times....give it a little pressure. Then put a dab of Noalox on it. If you bought it new from Reosmods, you probably got a little ziplock packed of Noalox with it. If you don't have any, you can get it in the electrical section of Lowe's or Home Depot or Ace Hardware. That should solve the firing pin problem.

The little on/off switch....if it drives you crazy, you can disable it by taking the tip of a little screwdriver or pocket knife or something and pushing it all the way into the delrin firing button so that it no longer locks. If you think you'll ever want/use the lock function, don't do this because it's permanent. If it's a relatively new REO, the lock function problem may solve itself when the button gets a little gunkier. OR....just make a habit of turning it to the firing position every time you pick it up and before you know it, it'll be second nature.

Thanks for the reply, JC. When I cleaned it, I put some Noalox on it again but didn't think of the filing bit. I have read about that on the forum but obviously never truly understood exactly what it applied to. Won't bother messing with the button either now that I know that is just the way it is. Am still loving my REO and would really rather not mess with it unless I have to so will do a bit of filing and leave the rest of it alone.

Good plan. When something is new, it's hard to know what is "normal" and what we should be worried about. The filing will help the firing pin. I worried about the on/off button problem when I got my first REO, and ended up pushing the pin into the button because I just couldn't get used to it. But, with the second REO, I recognized that it would either fix itself or I'd fix myself (ha.) so I just left it. After not too long, it just started staying where it was supposed to. So....I guess I'm saying give it a little time. There's nothing wrong with it. However, on the one that I disabled the on/off on, I've never regretted it. With the button located where it is, I never really worry about it accidentally firing. If the button were on the side, I wouldn't have disabled it.
