The Bolt actually uses an 18500 battery but, if it comes with the extension or you purchase one separately, you can use 18650 batteries. If you want to change the voltage you can use a Kick by evolv with an extention and a 18500 or two extensions and a 18650 to raise the wattage to a maximum of 10 w. Or (Not recommended) you can stack two smaller batteries 16340 or 18350, and change it to a 6 or 7v device. Stacking unprotected batteries in a mod with little in the way of safety features is risky at best. No sense in risking a fire or bodily injury when single battery VV or safer designs are becoming quite prevalent.

Sorry, i have done many searches and can't find an answer. The bolt uses a 3.7 volt 18650. does that mean it only vapes at 3.7 volts?
How do they come up with a 5 volt device?

Thanks
Tito

Pretty sure it's a straight mechanical device, so some people will use 4.8v nimh cells that are the same size as your 18650... Never tried using those nimh cells before, but you need special nimh chargers to use them, and I would definitely talk to somebody who knows more about them before trying as I've never done it, or knew anybody who has, so couldn't tell you if there's anything special you need to do or look out for using a nimh battery instead of a normal lithium ion.

Otherwise, since it's mechanical, it will vape whatever your battery is outputting. If you stick to your higher quality IMR batteries (Panasonic or AW), you should be getting 4.2v or so fresh off the charger, and slowly your voltage will taper off as you use it. I also recommend the better quality batteries as it seems they don't drop the voltage under load as much as some of your cheaper batteries.

But if you stick to some lower res stuff, 4.2v is plenty, I'd personally recommend being in that 1.7-2.2 (Single Coil) range...

the bolt actually isnt a mechanical apv.it uses a horn style switch with soldering and wires.
