HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I have a 60 watt / 9 volt mod. I'm confused on how this works exactly. So if I'm in watt mode, I obviously set the wattage I want and the device decides how many volts to pump out depending on my coil correct? Okay so I have a .32 dual 26g 4 wraps in here. If I set my wattage to 60 watts, the device pushes out about 4.15 volts. But I switch it to volt mode and set the volts to 9, should it not be pushing out like 200 watts? I don't claim to know alot about vapes, I'm just wondering exactly how this works. If the mod is limiting the watts while in volt mode is it basically like I'm "trying to make do a setting that doesn't exist?" (As far as this specific mod goes).
While I'm at it, let's say this is a mech mod with 9 volts and the same coils. Would I be getting that 200~ watts? Does that a mech mod has in a sense "unlimited watt potential?"

No, because the mod has limits. Since it can't fire more than 60W, you are limited to that no matter what the screen says you set it at.

Likewise, a 100W mod can't fire all coils at 100W. I think my Sigelei 100W is limited to 8.5v. So let's say I put a giant 2.8 ohm infinity Clapton.

P = v^2 ÷ R = 8.5^2 ÷ 2.8 = 25.8W. Hmm, not 100W.

I like at least a 100W mod for a 0.3 ohm coil. Even if I'm under 60W, I'm darn close to 60. Then I have two batteries so I'm not running out quickly, nor pushing them hard.

The istick 100W is cheap. The Cuboid and rx200 aren't much more.
I actually just ordered a cuboid yesterday, and thanks for the detailed answer. I'm gonna go ahead and ask another question since you brought the cuboid up :p
Joyetech recommends batteries with 25a discharge, I got 25rs which are 20a discharge. Couldn't really find a ton of info on this, but I asked the dude from MVS and he said it's fine and if there are any problems I can exchange it. Do you have any insight on this?

The 25rs will be safe up to about 120W. If you want to go to the full monte, use vtc4s.

If you have an Android device, download the free app "Vaper's Toolbox". Once it's open swipe the screen from right to left (twice) to change pages to the Power Tool page, play with that for a bit to see how the numbers play out. Also keep in mind as others have mentioned, devices have limitations that will prevent extremes regardless of the calculations.

It's a lot like horsepower in a car. If your car can go 80mph with 14" tires, can it go 200mph if you could install four foot tall tractor tires? No, your engine can't produce the torque to turn them at high rpms.

Go here, plug in the numbers, and watch watt happens (pun intended). You'll either run out of headroom on your batteries, or your mod won't let you raise the voltage or lower the resistance enough to get where you want to be.

Watts or volts, it's different ways of displaying the same thing, how much power is being delivered to the coil. Some prefer one way, some the other.
Why you see the varying volts on the display in wattage mode, is that the chip in the mod can step up the voltage to produce the required wattage above the 4.2 volts at full charge the battery can supply.

Volts X Amps = Watts

1: yes you set the wattage you want and the device works out what voltage to use.
2: even though you can try to set the voltage to 9, the mod itself has an inherent current limit, so you will not see the 9 volts on a low ohm coil; check the graph on steam-engine for your mod to see the ohms sweetspot .
3: a series mech ; 8 volts; 200watts;;
"unlimited watt potential" or maybe "no brakes"

Possibly, I'm not sure. I ordered some 22g kanthal (previously have only been using 26g) I was basically gonna use as many watts as I felt necessary but then found out that might not be a good idea. What do you think?

I think you should try 26g stainless steel and at least you can try temp control, I think you will find it works just as good if not better than kanthal but also you might find 22g a little more challenging to fit 2.5 - 3.0mm ID coils in your RBA decks .............
Do you understand how maximum continuous discharge limit works ?

My initial expectation for ecigs was to replicate the act of smoking. That meant creating an exhale plume that made me feel like I was still smoking and a nic hit that supported that feeling. I'm still able to do that with 80pg/20vg.

I pulled into the Waffle House yesterday to meet my Wife and my Mother for Lunch. As I was parking a lady and her 20 something daughter got out of a car. The daughter got out of the car with a box mod and proceeded to blow thick VG sub ohm plumes. Her mother pointed at her and the car. The girl took several more hits and put the ecig in the car and closed the door before following Mom into the Waffle House.

I took my Coolfire 4 with the Kayfun on it inside and stealth vaped 80pg juice without incident. I couldn't help feeling fortunate at being able to do that.
