I sub ohm vaped 18 all morning and afternoon... Quickly learned that it was a bad idea! Knew that I should be sub ohm vaping 12 or even possibly less, but I had some great flavours in 18 and they were definitely calling my name. Feeling better now though, drinking lots of water and no headaches.

Yeah you're tough as nails, if I subohmed 18mg in my setup half a day I would be dying. :D

Me too man. I'm at the point now where I can't even do 6mg without wanting to rip my throat out. :p

6mg is what I vape now but I got some 12mg in a trade a few months back and tried to vape some of it and got the world is spinning feeling and had to go lay down for a half hour. Needless to say I traded that back off quickly. :D

I have an Aspire Atlantis mega and CF MAXX, and a Kanger Subtank Nano... Didn't take me long to figure out that (the Atlantis Mega and CF MAXX) are the big boys and I can't vape 18 on those... Ahhh! Lesson learned, holy ..... Could've been worse but it was still a bit of a scare. Still standing! All good! :p

You got me beat hands down, or I guess I could say you could vape me under the table any day of the week.

There is a lot of replies here I'm simply too lazy to read lol, so sorry if you got this. Reading a few of your posts, even if you smoked 3 packs a day, it might still be best to try to drop to 12 mg and just deal with it sucking for a couple days while you adjust. 18mg is pretty high, I used it for my first 5 weeks after quitting smokes, but if I try it now it just seems WAY too intense lol. Then you could always keep an 18mg on hand in a smaller tank if you really feel you need it. You'll really appreciate the flavors more the lower you go, so you can look forward to that! Good luck!

Lol! I'm still thinking fondly on the day when I can decrease, will be nice. That's definitely the ultimate goal.

I found very quickly it was less about the nic and more about the hand to mouth fixation I was used to when smoking. You'll get there I'm sure. :thumb:

My personal experience:

-Going from regular Aspire tanks and a Nautilus to a Kayfun clone meant I had to lower my nic from 18mg down to under 9 mg else I got an instant headache that would last for a half hour after the last puff.

-Vaping too much would also give me a headache, but that has subsided after a year of vaping like mad.

-Dehydration also gave me headaches and was visible as my ankles swelled up noticeably. It would seem my body has adjusted by now and I don't get swollen ankles anymore and I don't need to drink as much water either.

I still vape 15-18mg in regular aspire tanks, but down to 6mg in RBAs and about 9mg for my Nautilus mini. My PV is used like a pacifier when I'm at home or driving, much the same as it was after vaping exclusively for a month and I vape whenever I can (still quite a bit) at work.

Thanks for sharing this info, seems like I'll have to make some minor adjustments. 18 is fine for me it seems, as long as I don't use it in a subtank. Gonna feel things out and see what adjustments I'll have to make. Thinking I may just use 18 less often.

Just happy I can share!

The more efficient the tank, the less nic you need. It took me some experimenting to figure it all out.

I experimented by getting a bottle of my favorite juice in much lower nic and mixing that with my normal juice, but that has to be mixed extremely thoroughly, like OCD thorough. I still got some puffs with no throat hit and some that would be awfully strong and give me a small headache when I did that in an RBA, but at least I knew where to go next. The upside is to feel like you lowered your nicotine intake. The downside is that's just an illusion as you get better delivery, but you do get much better flavor and more vapor, which is another level of satisfaction in itself and that helps to keep you on track.

The ultimate goal is to find what really works for you period, so keep looking, asking and trying and I bet you'll be there in time (just like the rest of us!)

I use 9-12mg in a Mini Protank 3, and I was never much of a smoker, that just goes to show that everybody is different. I have never noticed a headache from too much nicotine, but I have gotten the stomach cramps and extreme dizziness, only on 18mg though. I won't do that again soon. Using 0-6mg, the thing never leaves my mouth or hand. Some pack a day smokers here have dropped to 0-3 mg and do fine, I never smoked more than 5 in a day and could chain vape 6mg for hours and not be satisfied. I could do 18mg, but enjoy vaping too much to put it down after 1 or 2 hits. Do whatever works best for you. If you can sub ohm 18 mg, go for it, but if you are satisfied at 6, so be it.

Update: I had (what seemed like) some slight nicotine poisoning symptoms, chest pain, headache, etc.

I received a ton of new juices in the mail this morning, mostly 18mg. I got really excited about it, and chain vaped all morning and afternoon until I didn't feel quite right. At that point I slowed down considerably. I usually vape around 5ml/day (of 18mg) and that seems to work for me so far. I completely lost track of how much I was vaping today... I think that's where the issue lies.

Thank you for your input, everyone. Was/is much appreciated!

But one more question - when can I vape again? I've put it down for a bit, and I'm only taking maybe 6 puffs an hour or so, give or take. Seems like each time I have some, some symptoms slightly reappear. I'm drinking a lot of water, it's helping a lot.
I feel ok at the present moment, so I don't believe I need to see a doctor tonight. (Can't anyway, heading to work soon.) Any input is appreciated!

How long until you can vape again will depend heavily on just how much nicotine you have overdosed on. The first day I switched from blu's to the Halo Triton and I vaped 24 mg juice, I overdid it on the nicotine, but my symptoms were just light-headedness and a little nausea. These symptoms quickly passed after about half an hour or so and I was able to start vaping again. If you're subohming 18 mg and going through 5 ml a day, you're definitely going way overboard on the nicotine. I'm going through about 5 ml a day, but I'm subohming with 6 mg juice. Of course I was a pack a day smoker as opposed to your three packs a day, so I obviously won't need as much nicotine as you would. One thing that has surprised me is that I don't seem to be as addicted to nicotine as I had thought I was. The first day I dropped my nicotine level to 6 mg about two months ago was admittedly tough. I was jonesing for my vape pretty bad and it seemed that my mod never left my hand. Today I didn't have any urges to vape and went a whole 6 hours after I got up in the morning before I vaped for the first time today.

The tightness in your chest could also be your lungs not being used to the massive amount of vapor you are getting. That too will pass in a few days once you get used to it.

The Subtank Nano is a subohm tank as well, unless you're using the 1.2 ohm coil. Even then it can hit pretty hard because you will be using it at fairly high wattages as well. If you want to keep vaping 18 mg juices, you may want to consider getting a Nautilus.

Its actually not that tough if you can get over the mental block that comes with it.. When I started almost a year ago, my first setup was the good old Kanger EVODs, and I eventually got a Protank 2 Mini for it. I could do 24 no problem with that, I was a pack a day of Pall Mall red 100s for like 20 years. Fast forward a couple months I upgraded to an MVP and a full size Protank, and 24 was too much so it hurt my throat so I went to 18 and didnt really notice the difference at all. I was just happy I wasnt smoking.. Now a couple months later I got my first Kayfun Lite and damn.. 18 blew my head off. I immediately went down to 12mg, the 'satisfaction' was still there only I wasnt physically hurting myself doing it. When the Kayfun 4 came out in January I was down to 10mg since that tank had such a more efficient hit than its predecessor. Got my first dripper, a Magma around the same time and it was ok with 10mg but the Magma isnt exactly made to be a lung hitting cloud machine. Fast forward a couple more months later, I got my Derringer dripper. No way in hell I could vape even 10mg off that. I started making my own juices at 6mg right away, and even then I can still give myself that headrush if I chain vape too much. When I tried it in the Kayfuns it really wasnt that much of a difference so I just kept at it. Its really not as bad as it seems cutting down, like I said alot of it has to do with just 'getting over it' and doing it. For me, my smoking is more of the actual habit thing as opposed to needing nicotine, and I have a feeling alot of us are the same way, especially us chain vapers. Now I have my Samurai Bonsai and 6mg is the highest Im ever going again. Any higher and I would be puking left and right from the nic I bet. Granted everyone is a bit different but I just 'rushed it' everytime I cut my nic level and just dealt with it and Im still happily at 6mg in less than a years time. I would think the Subtank would be pretty gnarly so it might not be as bad as you think it will be. I go through juice like crazy now, but Im pretty much only dripping now, and luckily I started making my own last November and the cost of making your own is so cheap compared to having to buy overpriced vendor juices that I dont care. Ive got 240mls of fresh 100mg nicotine in the fridge I just got last week, and at the rate I vape and go through juice, thats STILL like almost 10 years worth of nicotine for me once its diluted down to 6mg. I still dont notice any difference than when I started at 24mg, if anything the vape has just gotten that much better, and hey, Im STILL not smoking and my body feels so much better than it did a year ago.

If anything its my drinking that causes more problems than my vaping hah..

I'm really glad to hear that it's mostly the habit part, and not so much the nicotine level. I'm seeing more and more that with different hardware, I'll need very different nicotine levels.

I'm aware of that. I have a nautilus mini as well, I like it, it performs well.

Hey Sailor...I used to vape 18mg I'd ignore the headache but the palpitation got my attention *lol*

backed it down to a 12mg for the normal vape, a 6mg for chain vaping and one tank for 18mg that's almost empty for early morning nicotine emergencies *lol*

somewhere between the headache and my heart jumping there was supposed to be nausea..but "old cast iron" didn't do that.

good luck!
