Sometimes I get a recipe that says 0.75% this and 1 % that and a couple %'s of those to,which I totally get but what I don't get is what "size" jug to mix all that in and how much PG/VG/nic to start with, which boils down to size of jug.It doesn't state if it's a 5-10 or larger ML bottle. Now, I use 12 MG nic at 50/50 or 70PG/30VG as a base to add to.So is there a way to figure out what size the recipe calls for when it says 1% this,0.75% that or just start at 10 ml and adjust,I use the ejuice me up calc. Should I just start with 10 ML or is there a way to figure out the size with percentages. Thanks

When using percentages, it's all your choice...and absolutely no hassle to figger out!

You get to decide how much you want to make :) Just tell eJuiceMeUp how much you want to make, and enter each of the flavors with the recommended percentage (along with your vg/pg/nic info)...and then hit "calculate". Wallah! All done but the measuring, mixing & vaping!

Maybe think of them as ratios instead of %'s?

I say this because you don't seem to have the same quandary about 50% PG 50% VG (50/50).

As stated above %'s are used so the mixer can pick their own final volume. If they want to make a liter, 1000ml, or 5ml, they just multiply the % of each component with the total volume and have a quantity to measure.

ah OK I was going at it the wrong way.I was trying to figure how much nic/PG/VG to use with the recipe instead of using what I had as you guys stated.I did use the calc. to go up to 30ML and yeah things changed of course but again I looked at it the wrong way.Used to seeing "for 10 ml use this % or that many drops".Doh.great many thanks.I'm off to my pit to warm up my cauldron

yeah hoosier, sometimes I use a 50/50 mix of PG/VG or 70/30 mix of PG/VG but it's mostly 50/50.I rebuild a lot of coils with that but I am learning as I go.Learned everything here.Great place for knowledge I may add........I looking at testing the 70/30 or even 60/40 to get more flavor, that elusive sweet spot of flavor and vapor

E juice me up calculator > eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator
lower right side of the page, download it to your computer
It will be your best friend
start out making 5ml or 10 ml bottles and tweek your flavor(s) to the way you like
make a base nic content or none whatever you prefer
Walmart will give you FREE two syringes at the pharmacy counter if you ask them, get a 1ml and a 10 ml to start. you can buy others (pretty cheap at 30 or 40 cents each.
you can use your old bottles well rinsed or get some here > US Plastics .26 cents each natural round (clear 10ml) Cylinder & Boston Round Bottles with Dropper Caps | U.S. Plastic Corp.

this should get you started.
Amazon has/had (currently out of stock) a 3 beaker set 50ml / 100ml / 250ml for about 5 or 7 bucks (pyrex glass ones) for use making larger amounts of base liquid

also, a small glass or plastic funnel to pour your mix into the bottles from beakers

Wanna try that again? :)

1% of 5ml is 0.05 ml,I use this all the time to figure out how much to use.

Percentage Calculator

opp's you are correct 1% = .05. It's back to math class for me:)

Percentages are considered to be what's called a "Unit-Less Measurement".

I know this sounds like an Oxymoron, but it Does Apply. Because Percentages are Independent of what Units are being Used.

It is also Very Good way to Write a DIY Recipe.

Danny, I hope you didn't think I was making fun of you or anything like that. Heaven knows - I'm 53 and have my share of senior moments. Think of it as 'affectionate teasing'. :)

The flavor % is relative to the bottle size. It's pretty simple.
1% of a 10ml bottle is .1ml
1% of a 30ml bottle is .3ml
1% of a 500ml bottle is 5ml

Either way, it is the % of the total amount of juice you will be making, usually in most cases, the capacity of the bottle you will be mixing said juice in.
The size bottle, is of course, for you to choose.
