Questions about battery positions for different chips

the chip dictates that... the dna, a step up converter, wants 3.7 volts going into it, where the lm2596 is a step down converter, needing more voltage than it will put out.. normally 7.4

So basically the dna20 takes parallel bateries to maintain the 3.7v and the lm takes the batteries in series to increase the voltage.

If I'm wrong in this please correct me!!
