Hi all! I have a question and I'm hoping some of the more learned DIY folks here could help answer.

So today I managed to score some Glycerin from a hospital. It's stated as being BP grade, which is essentially the British version of the USP. I was lucky enough to ask both a pharmacist and a doctor, who both verified that the label meant that the glycerin is extremely pure pharmaceutical grade glycerin.

Now the thing that interested me was the fact that there was a warning on the label which states that it is "Not for internal use"

So again I asked both the pharmacist and the doctor about the label and their explanation was essentially that for all intents and purposes, there wouldn't be an issue if the glycerin was actually ingested. The warning was likely more of a liability issue: while the manufacturer's products are indeed tested and certified to be BP grade, it was likely that the declared/registered product use was for external uses (as an emollient for skin care) and as such was obligated to state that "warning".

So. After my long ramble, I guess my question is would this glycerin be considered safe to use for DIY? I've tried a couple of drops: the same thick gooey liquid with the slight sweetness. No odor to note of. But of course, that's not even remotely close to being a reliable way of determining safety.

So yeap! Just wanna hear some thoughts on that
