I am new to vaping and had no idea the variables that went into sub ohm or the risks I ordered aspire platinum kit and the sub ohm was the mod it came with. I am using a 50/50 mix 18 mg and 12 mg nicotine level. I have been a cigarette smoker for 23 years and is using this a way to cut back and eventually quit regular cigs. Do I continue using aspire or change to something else. I am not looking to "cloud chase" as I have read. Just looking to move away from cig and to slowly take my nicotine levels down progressively. I was recently given a 70/30 mix with a nicotine level of 12. Should I even try it in my aspire sub ohm.

I have that same kit (it was where I started the sub-ohm adventure, lol) - very good setup, but if you are using subohm coils, I would recommend a 6mg nic level also - the amount of vapor (and the ensuing nicotine delivery) from sub-ohm vaping packs a punch - you will get a good throat hit and pretty decent flavor off of that setup, should actually provide a good analog replacement :)

Is it the pg-vg ration you are worried about and the atomizer not being able to wick correctly? If thats it i can tell you not to worry. My mother actually started with that same aspire platinum kit and used a 70-30 liquid no problems. With that aspire cf battery mod you dont need to worry. It wont fire below a .3 ohm coil and has basic safety features built in. If its the nicotine level you are worried about... Well you might find 12mg of nic to be too high. Or you might not depending on your smoking habits. If it is you can always buy more liquid. Dont give up on vaping or feel discouraged if what your using isnt working out for you. My mother didnt care for a sub ohm tank and i have now bought her an aspire nautilus and leant her a variable wattage device. She had smoked for over 40 years and i will continue to buy her whatever it takes to get her off smoking. The aspire platinum kit was something she went out and bought on a whim after i told her how vaping got me off cigs, it isnt something i would recommend for a beginner.

I think you may find that nicotine level too high in a sub ohm system. Give it a try and see. The common symptoms of too much nic are headache and upset stomach. Not hard to fix though just get some zero-nic juice in the same flavor and mix it down.
Have not noticed any real difference. Other than someone mentioning that I seemed amped. Been using it for 6 days. The headache I did have today no upset stomach

I don't think it's risky. More like uncomfortable. You just might find the vape too powerful, is all.

If it's working for you, go with it. Especially if it gets you off the sticks.

Because you are sub ohming compared to say a nautilus tank at 1.8 ohms, you are vaoprizing more liquid and therefore getting more nicotine from each hit. If your nicotine level is too high you might get nic sick. Alot of people will have you think anything over 6mg in a sub ohm tank is too high. But whatever works for you is what works for you. It really boils down to the type of cigs you smoked and how much you smoked. If you smoked two packs of marlboro reds a day 18mg of nic in a sub ohm tank might be just right for you. Try the 12mg first and see if it works for you. Just be aware of the symptoms of too much nicotine.

ultimately, not really a risk other than getting nic'd out (too much nicotine, possibly nic sick) - I sometimes vape a 9mg nic juice in a dripper as 'wake and vape' but personally, would not really recommend over 6mg on a sub ohm device for regular usage - your mileage may vary, lol - some people eat tequila worms and love it :)

I used my usual 12 mg nic in my new rebuildable tank for an entire day. I felt slightly buzzed, woozy and lightheaded, although no headache, jitters, nausea, etc... typical symptoms of too much nic, the same symptoms as too much caffeine.

I dropped to a 6 mg nic the next day and the above symptoms disappeared.

Well wanted to post an update. I tried. 70/30 mix at 12mg and did not feel right after the first five minutes. So learning that if you are trying a new mix go with a low nic level. Back to a 50/50 18mg. Unfortunately I tried it at work so ended up smoking why more sticks today then the last few days

Cagirl94, I think you may have the PG/VG ratio mixed up with the nic level from the sound of this post. The 50/50 and 70/30 are the ratios of propylene glycol to vegetable glycerin. The 12mg and 18mg figures are the level of nicotine. The higher the number the more nic you're getting with each hit. Rather than going down on nic, you went up. If this is what you intended to do then well and good. What most people on this post are recommending is to go down on the nicotine level, say to a 6mg liquid. The PG/VG affects how thick the liquid is and, to some degree, the amount of throat hit. A higher PG level can increase the throat hit a bit, but not the nicotine. For the most part, a higher nic level is the biggest factor in throat hit.
