Hello !!

I wanted to get more info on the packaging presentation (labels, warnings...) in order to be compliant to sell legally in the UK.

I know rusty and Jason from TW had some troubles in december and had to do some modifications, especially in liquid packagings.

What is the currrent situation ?... do the kits boxes need to have some additional labels ? do cartridges need specific indications, labels ?

I am not in the uk but I might import some e-cigs soon, in my country it is ok to sell them the way it has been presented so far (CE, ROHS) but in case I have the chance to get some orders from the UK, I want to be 100% sure that the "presentation" of my products will not be an obstacle to sell it there.
Does anybody know the answer ? or do you have an official phone number in the uk where I could check this information (trading standards authorities for example, even if I would prefer to avoid those people, just in case it makes them speed up any type of negative regulations...)

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate.

Hi supermig, I believe it to be a lot of work, child proof caps for example that are not of the Chinese standard but the european standard, bottles also. You might have to end up shipping tops and bottles you buy over here and ship to china. You would also have to check health and safety for whatever guidelines they put out. If youre not shipping to the uk on a regular basis it might be a lot to ask, imo. Sorry I've not been more helpful but I do know it is a lot of work.

Thx a lot for your answer !... I will definitely not enter the liquid market for the moment lol !! lot of headaches ! and you at TW are doing it so well... why bother ?
But what about the nicotine cartridges ? do you now need to add extra labelling on the your packaging to have them compliant with trading standards and customs? or just the warning on nicotine=poison in its pure form, and keep away from children, is this enough?

I appreciate your help on that.

Hi Supermig,

you should be careful with any statement on the packaging or brochure which states that the e-cig is a healthier alternative. And like was written in here before, it's a good idea to include the general warning reg. the liquid nictonine. Apart from that you might want to include the following in your brochure or promo material:

E-Cigs contain nicotine which is an addictive substance. The electronic cigarette is NOT meant for:
- children
- pregnant women
- people with (a history of) heart problems or high blood pressure
- people who are sensitive to nicotine

Hope that helped.

Regards,
Patrick

Hi Mig, I wouldn't let what I say put you off entering the market really. If you can find a way to get the product to market, maybe on a small scale I would say do it maybe? To be compliant however might be quite a bit of work and you will also have to have a good understanding with your supplier and also be able to communicate with them.

Carts are in a similar group really. Jason's sister company, The Electronic Cigarette Company sell a lot of carts I believe and he has had to package those in childproof boxes. I don't have much dealing with TECC so I can't say much about those boxes but Jason has told me about them. Someone else might be able to explain it better.
