Sorry, I have not experience any off taste. Maybe others will come a long and post their experiences. I have never read where anyone boiled the KGD brand/style cotton. Have you tried using another section of the KGD? I'm glad that it is not bothering you to the point where you cannot stand it. It is just a fabulous wick. I hope we both learn something new. :) Good luck to you.

I've used both KGD and Organic Labo puffs and haven't run across any that had an off flavor, or any flavor for that matter. If I did I would toss them, there's plenty of "good" stuff out there. What brand are you using? What's your history of using cotton for wick? Some people just don't like cotton and prefer rayon instead.

What kind of bag was it packaged in? I have had organic cotton balls have a funny taste at first from the plastic bag and they would be better if I removed them from the bag and opened them up and let them sit out of the bag for a few days so they could "air out" before using them.
The cleanest tasting cotton I have ever used was Japanese cotton pads that were packaged in a type of celopane type bag.

Have you used KGD before and it didn't have an odd taste to it? I ask because I have heard a few people mention a funny taste from Japanese cotton for the first 10 minutes or so of vaping.

I do not notice any flavor difference with two brands of Japanese cotton I've used in the past, but I did notice it when I bought a Kanger subtank that comes pre-wicked with Muji Japanese cotton. The odd flavor went away after around 10 minutes or about 1-2 mls e-liquid max!

I use KGD and whatever Avid Vapor sells (with the little specks in it). I would try to see if the flavor becomes better with about 3 mils of e-liquid vaped through it before I'd boil or possibly PIF if you think it could just be your discerning taste buds! Lucky you! :p
ps: Some people say Rayon tastes bad at first, but I don't notice that either.

I've found that all cotton tends to have that weird taste at first, even the expensive Japanese cotton. This is why I stopped buying the kogendo cotton and stick with the cheap bag of organic cotton balls

Same here - Massively over hyped.

I buy a huge bag of 100% Organic Cotton balls from Holland & Barrett for £1.50 - Probably will last me my entire life.......
