I am addicted to COV's butterscotch, hence I just ordered another 59ml and thought I might as well try COV's xxl dual coil 1.5-2.0 ohm smoktech cartos. I usually order the 1.7 SINGLE coils smoktechs from Happy Vapor, but got really frustrated since 12 out of 15 were DOA. Here's my question. COV's dual coils are completly silent, no crackle, nothing. The carto get's pretty hot as well as the Stealth body. Is my battery to weak to handle those dual coils and if so could I ruin my Stealth? Thanks so much for your input.

I sometimes put 1.25 ohm dual coil cartos in my SS DCT MAP tank onto my SS Stealth (with AW IMR 18350s) and I've had no problems. The 1.25ohms should pull higher amerpage than the 1.5-2 smoketechs, so the battery isn't your issue. I'm guessing that one of your coils is blown, which would explain the hot body/button. Try putting the carto in question on a provari if you have one to see if you get an E1 message, and if not, multimeter it to check the resistance. If it registers 1.5ish, then you're in the clear. But if it says 4ish, then that means one of the coils blew.

On a side note, invest in some AW IMR 18350s if you don't already use them. They're all rated at 5amps, so you won't have any problems on that front.

Hmmm. My wife uses my stealth with those cartos. She is one to complain about everything and has not said anything about either of them getting hot. Does it get that hot with just one of them so far?

Yes, just got the first out of the package. Maybe I got a bad one. Sorry if it's the wrong forum. Where should I have posted it? Just want to make sure I'm not damaging my Stealth.

AW's 18350's are all I use for the Stealth. Can't compare, I got rid of all my mods since I got the Stealth. Had nothing but hassle lately with cartos. Blew about 50 bucks within 3 weeks on DOA's. But when the smoktecks do work (I'm talking about the 1.7 ohm Single coils, this is the first time I ordered dual's) they are fantastic, hence I ordered all the way from Canada, nobody carries them here. I'll try another one out of the pack and see if I still have the same issue. Maybe its time for an Ody after all. Thanks for your guys' input.

The aw imr 18350 is rated at 8c continual discharge. You've got a very safe margin. Using 1.5 ohm attys or cartos you'll get about 15 minutes of continual vaping i.e. holding the button down for 15 minutes total. More than that and you may risk over discharging the battery.

All that said, if your batteries are getting hot, you may be pushing them too hard? Might want to pick up a fresh set.

Hmmmm.....I love COV's butterscotch as well. I've bought a lot of DC from COV in 1.5 oHm. I typically run them at 6.4 volts by stacking two 3.2v batts in my SSGGTS. I would think 3.7v would be too low a voltage to run a DC carto.

When I first got my GGTS and was using it one day I found that the switch was getting really hot. I knew I didn't have a short because it was firing and I was getting vapor. I theorized that the contact being made inside GGTS when I pushed the switch was not 100% and I know from experience that a poor electrical connection can produce heat as a byproduct.

What I did was to take the bottom cap off so that I could get to the switch inside. I put a very small daub of Noalox on the backside of the switch, so that when I pressed the switch, the switch plunger, with the daub of Noalox made contact with the spring post inside. On the first try I found that I got a much better hit off the GGTS and the heat issue has never returned.

At one time here on the forums we had hashed out using Noalox on the threads of GGTS as well. HOWEVER, we decided that, for the most part, Noalox on the threads was a bad idea. I had put Noalox on the threads of my Provari and at first it seemed beneficial, however, it didn't take long before the Noalox got gummy and somewhat black and kind of nasty. Use only Vaseline on the threads or, in my case, I use food grade silicon grease like the kind used in the food industry to lube up the internal components of food processing equipment. A tube is less than $4 and will last you for forever.

As far as damaging your Stealth it's not likely. However, you can damage a battery. As you describe your situation you do seem to have a problem and if the switch and body of the Stealth are getting hot, and not just warm because it's in your hand, consider that a warning of impending doom.

I would suggest taking the Stealth totally apart, cleaning it with an old toothbrush under hot running water, dry very well, lube all threads and o-rings with Vaseline, and place a daub of Noalox as I describe above. You know the tiny white dot that sits atop a strike anywhere match? That's the size daub, or smaller, to use. Because the throw of the switch is only mm in distance, you don't want to put so much Noalox onto the backside of the switch that you close the gap between the switch and post because then it will fire all the time because you've now defeated that gap t hat gives you on/off functionality. Don't let this warning scare you. When you do as I described you'll plainly see the gap I'm talking about. You can always shine a light down into the Stealth after applying the Noalox and you'll then be able to clearly see that you have maintained the gap needed between the switch and post.

Sorry for the rambling but I know this can be kind of scarey and I wanted to give you all the info I have on this.

I use to use Smok Tec 1.7 ohm XL DCC's on my stealth or GGTS in mini mode and never had much of an issue.

I would advise checking the carto resistance if you have a multi-meter. If not I would advise getting a cheap one in the future for testing purposes.
Also give the button and battery post a good cleaning.
Finally screw out the posative pin from the bottom of the stealth cap (not all the way just enough so it doesn't make contact with the carto) Put the carto on and slowly tighten the posative screw just untill it makes contact. It is possible the new cartos pin sticks out slightly more then the old cartos and when you screw it on it is pushing in on the carto's pin causing a short.

Wow you guys, THANKS SO MUCH to everybody for taking the time out, explaining and caring. This is truly an experience I have never had with "strangers". This really is a family and I hope I will be able to contribute someday as well.
I am sorry for freaking out so quickly, just did not excpect that the first carto I'd get out of the package was damaged just like my prior experiance with the single coils. Yes, it was just the carto. Was so frustrated, I had a cigarette (now I feel like crap for doing so). Once I calmed down and switched cartos, everything seems to work fine thus far. This whole caryo situation has been a hassle lately. I still have about 13 "rejuvenators" and had no problem (but only used 2, prefer the xxl size due to vapor, flavour and less driping). I would go on an Ody hunt, but like I mentioned in another post, I am not very "arts and crafts" oriented, no common sense, hence I doubt I could even figureout how to get it set up. If any of you have a good experiance with a certain carto brand/ Stealth combo, please let me know. Obviously and unfortunately, ST cartos are very inconsistent. Thanks again and sorry for not doing the "common sense thing" by using a different carto right away (I did get a draw, and usually the ST were eithercompletely DOA or tasted like chrmicals; this experoiance was a new one).
You guys rock :)
