Here's a wear and tear update.
Three weeks in and the TiAlN coating is holding up very well. I polished my other SS GGTS the same day that I sent this one out for coating, and ever since I received the coated one, I have been somewhat torture testing the finish of both.
Here is my stainless uncoated GGTS after 3 weeks of being carried around in pockets with loose change, keys, etc.

And here is the coated one after undergoing the exact same abuse.

The interesting thing is that the TiAlN coating has a bit of tooth to it. It is slightly abrasive and if you rub metals against it, they will leave a mark
Here is the results of rubbing it with (from left to right) a penny, some nickel-silver (trumpet mouthpiece), Brass, stainless steel, key bronze and aluminum.

And here is what it looks like after a quick wipe with a damp polishing cloth...

For those who are considering this but don't like the color, there are a number of different PVD nitrides that range from silver to bronze, to purple, gold and black. I am in no way offering a service, I frankly can't be bothered and my real job keeps me busy enough as it is. I'm just so pleased with the results of PVD coating that I'm spreading the word.
