Actor David Carradine found dead in Bangkok - Yahoo! News

BANGKOK – Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.
The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.
It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.
The newspaper said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The name of the movie was not immediately available.
I used to watch Kung Fu every week and loved Kill Bill. This is sad news.:(

When I was a kid (about 8) I had just watched Kung-Fu and decided to go outside and practice my "karate". Dad was asleep on the couch (as usual) while mom was at work.
I got an empty beer bottle and set it on the concrete steps, and gave it a good karate chop. It bounced off my hand, slammed into the step and shattered. At the same instant I dragged my hand through the broken glass.

Mom followed the blood trail into the backyard where I was hiding, afraid to wake my dad. About a dozen stitches that time.

I won't tell you about how I almost castrated myself imitating Evil Knievel!
Good thing Jackass or Beavis & Butthead were not on when I was a kid.

RIP GRASSHOPPER

I think he was killed by late-night comedy writers.

I mean, auto erotic asphyxiation in Bangkok, while filming a movie called "Stretch". Any two of those elements together could get Letterman through the summer. I'm just sayin'.

Seriously though, it's quite a shame. I always thought he was one of the people that defined cool, even before Kill Bill. He had that air about him. At least you can't say he didn't live a full life.

Was doing some reading. Figure they will find it wasnt a suicide. When people commit suicide they don't want to find them in a bad way. Hanging in a closet by a drapery cord NAKED is not a suicide
David Carradine a fan of 'potentially deadly' deviant sex acts, ex-wife said in court papers
Yeah. . . I read this too. And, Smoking Gun had his divorce papers from his last wife who filed because of his "potentially dangerous" sexual practices. I guess she also asked him to go to counseling over whatever practices she's referring to, but he wouldn't. Instead, he got married a fifth time. She also said he was involved in an incestuous relationship with someone. 8-o

I used to really like him, too. He was great in Kung Fu, but then he started playing really nasty people all the time (at least what I saw). I remember watching that miniseries North and South when I was a kid and he seemed so mean!-- so different than watching Kung Fu. Still, what a horrible way to die. . . and then, to have made public. :(

"The location of the ropes suggested Carradine died while attempting autoerotic asphyxiation - cutting off oxygen to the brain to enhance sexual pleasure."

I have heard of this before. But really, I'd rather think this of him than he was murdered that way. I mean, people have all kinds of kinky sexual desires....most of which are frowned upon by society. Personally, I don't care what people do in their own bedrooms as long as everyone is in agreement and no one is being "victimized". It really was more unsettling for me to think he might have been murdered.
