Greetings all, this is the end of my first week with an e-cig. I. am. hooked. The smell of second hand smoke is already become a bit gross to me after switching to this. And I already envision myself dripping different bizarre flavors while my friend sucks on a foul smelling cancer stick. ;) Or maybe I can convince him to switch too. I work on an ambulance and I regularly see the tragedy tobacco often causes. When it works the thing is fun! Maybe I can get my friend to switch too after I sort this out.

Unfortunately I still need to find which model works for me, and before I say anything else y'all have a GREAT website full of wonderful information. Big props to you ladies and gentlemen!

I'll try to be brief... I used to smoke analogs when I lived with my best friend because I really enjoyed our times of stepping outside into the fresh air and having deep philosophical discussions while having a smoke. Those were often my favorite parts of the day, just stopping what you're doing to slow down and relax out in the fresh air. And smoking was our crutch / reason to relocate our butts outside and relax. Since I moved somewhere else I quit smoking, but we're getting an apartment again in a few weeks and I know we'll be enjoying those "stepping outside" experiences and discussions again. So, I decided for my health's sake to buy an e-cigarette.

I heard an ad on the radio for the "free" (ha!) e-cigarette from smokerelief. Basically it was $70 plus s/h for a "30 months supply" (4 plastic cartridges with moist fuzz packed at the bottom), or about $110 for a 2 month's supply. Something like that. Anyway, 5 weeks later I received what LOOKS to be like a KR 808 Vapor King (I'd post pictures but e-cigarette-forum won't let me). White body with typical tan cartridge.

So far I have mixed feelings about the e-cig. At first I couldn't get ANY vapor out of any cartridge, I thought I was genuinely scammed. So I took a tooth-pick and poked under the arcing metal part a bit and when I put it back together it actually produced vapor when I inhaled. Awesome! I still have some significant gripes though.

My feedback on smokerelief:

1) It takes a LOT of effort to draw in air. In short you have to suck really hard to get any good amount of air into your lungs. That sucks. (pun intended) The volume is good if you don't mind sucking like mad for 10 seconds before breathing out...

2) Battery was finicky from the start. I charged it one morning and I guess it passively discharged throughout the day (without me even touching it) such that when I tried it in the evening the indicator LED would already blink a low battery warning after only 4 or 5 puffs. Sometimes it lasts longer, sometimes not. Sometimes it doesn't produce any vapor at all, sometimes a bunch. I'm confused.

3) Took them almost 5 weeks to get it to me. Wow. A live person did answer their phone when I tried calling them to get a tracking number around week 4.

4) Their website has been down for as long as I know. The only way I got a hold of them was from piecing together the incomplete phone # on my credit card statement with some results I found on google.

5) They originally told me they have a 30 day 100% return policy. If you guys agree I got a sub-par model, I might be taking advantage of that! I want a GOOD one that works!

6) The written instructions inside the box were obviously done by someone with broken Engrish. All they really tell you is what you would figure out on your own after playing with it for 5 minutes.

7) Flavor was ok, kinda vanilla-ish. No gripes there, and the vapor consistency was pleasant. The batttery / cartridges feel fairly solid, like they could withstand being dropped multiple times (normal wear and tear). That's about as positive as I can get towards this product.

8) The clear plastic indicator cover fell off about 10 times before I finally super-glued it.

So what do you guys think? Am I right in thinking I out to return this puppy and get one that is easier to suck air through and that is more reliable? Or do I just not know how to properly manage the atomizer yet? C'mon, $80 is on the line here!!!! 8-o
jk ;)

Thanks!!
- Steve

Actually I kinda doubt it was a vapor king... from their website it looks like those are pretty hard-core products. What I have is the basic white and tan cartridge.

Here's two actual photos of mine:

ht tp://ad0l.webs.com/e-cig/second.jpg

Please don't be mad I put that space in the link so it'd work (I'm a new member here), I'm not a spammer or phisher I swear... I just want the e-cig wizards here to know what model I have. ;)

You know, I just now noticed that if I "cigar puff" to sort of pre-warm the atomizer before taking a drag it feels like I get more volume...... is that common practice.... or am I getting the short end of the stick by having to do that? >_O

Sounds a little high for what you received. Of course we started with the SmokeStik (an RN4081) and it was about the style and same price, plus we ordered extra cartridges before we knew better. However, we can't really complain. The SmokeStik has worked great and we're still using them.
We've just ordered the Dragon and Phoenix (M401 models) from Truesmoker for only $59 per kit. Each come with two batteries, two atomizers, 10 filled carts, case and charger. Much better deal and the M401 are spoken of highly in here. True smoker is listed on the site. Might want to look into it. And buy some juice. We recommend Rocky Mountain Vapors.
Of course, everyone has their favorites. Just tossed these out because both are quality businesses with good prices and great personal service.

Thanks Cliff! Great information... I did overpay for mine. I mean, I did order it from the radio so what do you expect I guess? And that m401 is sooo awesome looking... do want!

well, one thing to try to reduce the drag, is to put one of your fingers over one of the holes and see if the draw gets better. If you cover both holes, let off of one of them after a second or so, that will warm your atomizer up quickly, but burn it out if you keep your finger on both holes. I ended up taping one of the holes off, and when the liquid ate the tape off yesterday, I dabbed silicone sealant in the hole with a toothpick. Also, i got the same crappy cartridges with mine, and I've been refilling them myself and I get TONS of vapor out of it.

I have been doing that also, seems like i get a better hit out of it. I have a 510, it works wonders :) I got it from cignot for 35 bucks, EXCELLENT customer service btw. I am not very familiar with other styles of e-cigs or vendors. but I hear that the 808's are awesome

Cliff, I meant to ask you (and anyone else who uses an M401 can speak for this), but how much effort does it take to suck a drag on an M401 compared to a regular cigarette? Analogs take very little effort but my current e-cig (that has only two very tiny holes in the atomizer) makes my lungs feel like they are going to implode if I drag too long because I have to suck so hard. Yes I'm exaggeration a little but I think you get what I'm saying. So do you think I'm still going to whine about required drag effort if I get an M401 from TrueSmoker? I used to run 6 days a week so I know my lung capacity / strength is good. I saw another e-cig (The Pen Edition from abettersmoke.com) which has a "4 hole atomizer for smooth inhalation". I like the dragons MUCH better cosmetically, but I want to exert less effort like the uglier Pen Edition claims to have.

I have yet to research the difference between a "manual" battery and an auto battery, but I assume right now that that won't make a difference on drag effort...

Thanks...

I did it!

So I just gave my business to truesmoker.com (as per your recommendation), and Health Cabinet.

I got:

Christmas gift for my girlfriend who really likes Phoenixes:
h ttp://ww w.truesmoker.com/products/the-phoenix-m401

For my best friend who is a smoker:
h ttp://ww w.healthcabin.net/silver-dse901-starter-kit-plain-paper-box-product-7289.html

And a JOYE510 for myself, the non-smoker:
h ttp://ww w.healthcabin.net/matte-black-joye510-starter-kit-manual-product-7230.html

I also got 2 carrying cases, 2 usb pass-through cables, and 6 random flavors from health cabin. I think their prices were excellent, although shipping was a bit steep at $19. Still, coming from China it makes sense.

Also I'm pretty sure I got an m801 off that smokerelief radio ad. They retail around $38 so at $70 I got ripped off pretty bad, but hey it was the radio. I will mail it back for my refund (already talked to them) when my Health Cabin stuff is about to arrive. :D

After all the research I've done today (pretty much my whole day!) I realize that smokerelief didn't send me a bad product, the m801 is fairly decent. However they did over-charge for it, it has a hard draw (ugh), and it's kinda plain looking IMO. I want something a little more eccentric. :D

And once again, sorry about circumventing the newbie link prevention thingy, but as is well obvious I am not trying to sell anything. ;)
