I've read plenty of people's ranting on here, my turn.

I was at the grocery store (one I use to work at) and an old coworker noticed my PV (which I was not using). I tried explaining what it was and she as a close-minded non smoker didn't hear a word. She genuinely believes nicotine is the carcinogen in cigarettes and likewise my vape is just as bad. The cherry on top of my headache is when I mentioned the different flavors she responded "that just tells you they are targeting kids"

I have no words to express my annoyance at this ignorance... At least no words the moderators will let me post.

I can empathize with your ignorance related frustration ... If there is anything in this World that I genuinely cannot stand, it is ignorance.

If one is ignorant because they don't know, but are willing to find out, I have no problem with this person however, the one who truly does not know, and refuses to open themselves to knowing, this is the one I shun without hesitation.

It amazes me how many will reject something that they have absolutely no knowledge of ..

To anyone that tells me flavored eCigs are proof that they are targeting kids, I would ask "Does that mean wine coolers and various schnapps and flavored liqueurs are targeting kids? Do you only drink flavorless beverages?"

Bottom line flavor is not just for kids.

See that is a fantastic point for anywhere except Utah. Because here, they actually do ban or over-regulate anything they don't want kids to get their hands on. Case in point: so-called "alco-pops" like wine coolers - those used to be sold in supermarkets but some legislator's kid got a hold of some, and the next thing we knew, you could not longer get them anywhere but the state liquor stores.

They are doing the same thing with ecigs. While I am in favor of severe and prohibitive penalties for anyone supplying tobacco, e-cigs, or alcohol to under age people, this idea that adults can't have something because "kids might get it" is really out of control here.

I am not here to be a role model to others' kids... although I do make one hell of a cautionary tale ;)

I stopped one person arguing with me about the flavour thing being about capturing kids by asking them if they though flavoured condoms (yup - it's a thing) were to attract kids.

I would have to ask them what flavor ice cream they eat. I like vanilla but really enjoy other flavors as well. Don't folks like this person realize that adults enjoy variety in flavors. As has been said "you just can't fix willful ignorance"

I've been pretty amazed at how smoothly this quit has gone for me, and have thought a lot about why... what is it about vaping that works so well when other methods fail? There are many factors but flavor is definitely one of them.

People like to say that ecigs aren't proven to help people quit, which is just complete nonsense... but once we have more studies showing that it does help (A LOT!!), and that it's partly because of the flavors, they will have to decide whether they want to reduce its effectiveness by making it unpalatable ... or do they want to risk it being "attractive" to kids.

Anything they do that makes it less effective is going to be a moral dilemma for anyone who truly wants to see people get off tobacco.

I'm saving it for the right situation, but I've been in conversations with ANTZ types where I wanted to say, "If it weren't for this ecig, I'd be blowing tobacco smoke in your direction right now. It works to allow the transition to something safer and that's a good thing!".

We have to find a way to reach the public with the right message. I think the main concern of the anti-vaping crowd is that it's a crutch to keep "smoking" while quitting tobacco. They really want it all to go away. The children point is covered by the age 18 rule observed by vendors. You have to be a certain age to do lots of things, but teenagers still seem to be able to find a way.

It seems that most of the news about ecigs is slanted in the negative direction. Getting the right message out is obviously hard. Non-smokers who don't get it think you can just quit. Some do and some don't, at least successfully. You wonder why overweight people don't just stop eating. Vaping is both a cure and a mental thing that not only satisfies the nicotine urge, but it also simulates the act of smoking. When you try to quit both cold turkey, you are left with both habits to "not think about".

I'm down from 24mg to 11mg and may go a little lower. I think I'll keep some level of nic for quite a while and may not ever hang up my Provari.
