I was going to suggest if you are concerned about cost, you should look into rebuilding the pro tank. There is a video floating around that shows how to use stainless steel mesh as a wick in the pro tank. Otherwise you could use the standard silica or cotton.
Maybe so but there's nothing wrong with and RBA on an ego. In fact they make RBAs for the egos. If your thinking of a nimbus on an ego yeah I can see your point but there's some pretty cheap RBAs that work great on the ego well as long as you don't get into sub ohm coils. It would actually be good for me to invest in a cheap RBA and practice making my own coil so when I get a mod I'll know what I'm doing so I can get into sub ohm coil builds.
well, you've officially impressed me. i'm used to going into threads and seeing idiots asking about going straight from an ego+evod to a mech and a sub-ohm rba, and trying to convince them that it's worth taking the time to learn how to swim before diving in the deep end, so to speak.
anyways, based on everything you've said so far, i think you'll be perfectly fine transitioning to rba's. to start, i'd recommend something like an octopus or an igo for a dripper, or an rsst for a genesis. all are very reasonably priced, and it will be easier to rebuild something that's designed to be rebuilt than something like an evod or nova head where there is very limited space.
for wire, i'd stick with 32 awg kanthal until you get a mech mod. shoot for 2 ohms (or 1.8 at the absolute lowest) for anything you plan on using on your ego.
when you do decide to pull the trigger on a mech, the k100/k101 performs incredibly well for a mod in it's price range (about $25 shipped from fasttech). in terms of voltage drop, it actually performs better than some mods that cost $100 or more. you will need good imr batteries and a good charger, though; these are definitely not things to skimp on.
above all else, i'd recommend saving up some money for a device budget. once you've started on the mech/rba path, it's very easy to start picking up increasingly expensive equipment...
good luck!
For anyone saying not to put an rda on an ego well first off it tastes allot better and second its good practice until you can get a mod. As long as you do it safely using an ego sized rebuildable is a great starting point into rebuildables if you don't have a mod.
I've been waiting on my VAMO to show up from FT, but got my RSST in.. been thinkin about dropping in some of my 7x7 wire rope with a mesh sleeve up top, wrapping some 30awg on it, and slapping it on my ego... at least, until my VAMO gets in.
Then, I'd actually be able to experience the awesomeness of the MBV Ecto Cooler!
Nice! I'm planning on getting some liquid from them in the near future, I found out about them after I spent my juice money on pink spot rip tide, it's should be a good vape though. I have a feeling MBV is gunna be my goto online juice supplier!
I want to also get into reviewing juices, anybody know how I can start getting companies to send me samples to review. I want to do it because I think it will be fun and I'm getting tired of run of the mill flavors. I want to explore what I've been missing and maybe I'll find a new favorite all day every day vape. I hate when I get juice and I love them then it's starts to fall of and I get tired of it.
If nothing else, they are much more cost effective, and I really do like their Hawk Sauce and Black Ice, but I digress.
OP, if you do try out an RBA or RDA on an ego, please let us know how that worked out for you, but please do your research first and be safe! Make sure you don't go too low on your resistance! Read & research on the ECF forums first!
Thanks! alot of vaping has to do with fundamentals and common sense which there's people out there that lack that. Have you heard of bakero ribbon wire?I like it. Its efficient which I like. Although it can be hard to work with I want to use it. But of course I'm gunna start out on kanthal wire and move to bakero when I get the hang of it. I'm thinking of getting the octopus or the squid as my first RBA. Is there any differences besides size? When I get the k101 I'm gunna invest in a high drain 18650 battery with a 20 amp load rating to cover my bases. And a good charger. I don't know if I should even bother getting the kit, it would be nice to have extra batteries that I can use on reg ohm coils, I guess I gotta check the price differences and see if it's cheaper to get the kit and a great 18650, or get a great 18650 and a cheaper batteries. Nevermind it came to me. I'm gunna get a great 18650 and a charger and if I have some extra money invest in cheaper batts for normal vaping. I guess it will be a get em as I go kinda thing and build up my gear as I go! Thanks for all your help! Do you some sites I can get kanthal and wick from for a good price?
