Yeah anything from temco's ebay site also works for good kanthal. I don't think their flat ribbon wire works too well inside of the posts as you might have to get a knife and make the post holes bigger or something. So I'd suggest buying 28-32 ga kanthal for the time being. If you get your mechanical mod too, you can twist 28 ga kanthal to get a good .6-.8 ohm coil so subohms are still in reach at a "safe" level for testing. As for a battery charger, I use a trustfire which also fits all battery sizes from 18350 to 18650. High drains are a great investment for mechanical mods and if you want a good 18650 that will last a nice amount of time I'd say to get some orbtronic 18650 high drains. I think they're 2900 mAh.

That's good to know, in a video steel jan did on YouTube she used foam cutting wire in place of kanthal and I never seen that before, I don't remember her testing in out to see how well or if at it worked. That would be the best bet for me because I'd rather goto a store and be done with it and I'm not sure if any of the vape shops in San Antonio carry wire and wick I gotta check on that too. As far as the obtronic 18650 how many watts Is it rated for?

Just wanted to throw in my :2c: I bought a phoenix rba(V3, don't get that one, go for V2 or V4 if you get a phoenix) shortly after rebuilding my first kanger t3 head. Using 32g kanthal and silica or cotton it works just fine. Shortly after that I bought an aga-t2, to use on my ego batteries, vapes beautifully but it is a little top heavy(and looks a bit like a scepter). I would suggest staying away from ss mesh until you get a mod that a short won't kill, but other than that as long as you build it within the limits of what an ego battery can handle it works perfectly well.

I have and it fried my EGO. I knew that you're not "supposed" to... at least not without checking for shorts and the resistance. Well, the coil was too close to the top of the RBA... where it was making contact with the metal. (of course I didn't know this at the time) And yeah... I fired it... put it to my mouth only to feel a substantial pop... After that, the dreaded flashing blue light on my ego followed. The pop scared me pretty well. Luckily my RBA had 2 chambers and this happened at the base, so there was a good distance between my mouth and the coil. Just be careful. I was careless and it could have been disastrous.

Yeah, you definitely have to check and re-check. When you're using something like a vamo, with short protection, you won't get this kind of result so it's a good idea to check resistance on the posts AND at the atty/battery connector with everything put together. I've got a dead ego from a protank that shorted...

Just remember that this is the NOOB forum, and there are guys reading this forum that are still trying to figure out what an ohm is ... let alone know how to use an ohm.

Sub ohm vaping is flat out dangerous IF you don't know the capabilities of the equipment used, or how to use it properly.
Just so you know, the way the safety circuit works in a eGo is it burns out, and you throw the eGo in the trash.

OP: While technically an eGo is a mod, I have no confidence in its built-in safety for an RBA level vape. It's like charging your battery through your computer instead of the wall because while it can be done if something goes wrong atleast you don't lose your computer in the process. RBAs need to be used on protected mods and if the mod is mechanical then atleast with the proper springs, ventalation, and maybe fuses in place.

So to recap, yes it can work but no it's not worth the risk to your equipment or your health, ya know?

ok the ego is a pv it is not a mod by any means, and I agree with Tj, even just running a rba of any type of an ego you need to know what you are doing. Yes they make ego sized rba's now, but doesn't mean they are safe to use.

They made the groove also, and the smoketech telescope without vent holes.

Just because this is the NOOB forum doesn't mean I am, I shoulda joined a long time ago but never got around to it, so I'm stuck here. I'm a noob as far as sub ohm but I've don't plenty of research and still do more.

Y'all are a little late I've made up my mind, but yes I agree I'm as far as building coils for a RBA I'm gunna stay above or at 1.8 ohms until I get a mod or an APV of some sort.

Thanks! I didn't realize how dangerous sub ohm building could be untill I get a bunch of comments saying I need to know what I'm doing before I do it. I appreciate that! Y'all coulda put ,get this RBA and this wire and wick and wrap it this many time to be a sub ohm build and try it out. But that wouldn't of turned out so well. So I thank everyone for making me research sub ohm cause my ego probably woulda been dead by now.

I sometimes vape sub ohm, tho not all the time. While it can be really nice, it is not for everyone, or even every juice. Number 1 thing is the same with anything vape related, Know what you are doing and vape safe!

I use the size 14mm Mini DID on my Twists and Spinners now and then. (with a collar). Usually it sits on my lovely Roller though. I do use a high OHM coil with it, well, at least a Standard resistance coil. Usually around 2.4 ohm.
I can't recommend using an RBA on an eGo type, but, yes, it can be done. I agree with everyone else, that a high amp mod is your best bet. You can even add a safety resettable fuse to the mod.
Here's a pic of my Twist set up with the D-14 Mini DID. (mmvapors). Worth noting, is that some attys come with nice insulators, some with crappy. Stay away from the crappy ones at all costs. (mmvapors, has nice ones, no problems with theirs thank goodness, cuz I learned about the various insulators long after I had been vaping my Mini. There weren't no such things as "clones" when I bought my D-20 and D-14 thank goodness or I would have learned the hard way for sure).

picture looks blurry and deformed, but at least one can get a feel for the size in diameter

That's a negative, Nancy. A VV ego is a mod. Hence Variable voltage. Point is, rbas can render egos useless if something goes wrong, much more so than with a real mod with protections in place.
