Cotton, silica, ss mesh...

all have their place.....advantages + disavantages to them all.....ss mesh takes awhile to build good coils and can take a full tank to get it wicking well......silica falls apart fast...cotton can't be dry burned...

depends which delivery system u want to coil, how much heat you are applying, what device its going on

variables galore, lol.

My efforts to build a good coil and wick for my aga t+ have been nearly futile so far. I have gotten 2 to work but the flavor and vapor are no where near what I can get from a viv nova, yet. I have faith though, that I just suck at it so far. One day I expect to be able to build an RBA that will smoke vaporize a vivi nova :)

How long have you been using a Genesis type atomizer? Mine work great...flavor is far greater than a cartomizer, IMO. I will agree that the my IGO-L produces much more vapor than my genesis atomizers do, however I'm running a dual coil setup and have an extra hole drilled into it. I like both but I'm leaning more towards the dripper now. Just waiting for a Nimbus to come in to add to my collection. Maybe the OP is having problems with his build?

Hello All,

Thanks to everyone for their comments. That was exactly what I was hoping to get. A variety of opinions from folks who both like and dislike genesis style RBAs. I am glad I am not the only one suffering the same frustrations with RBAs. My statement that they suck and that the flavor sucks was actually my honest feeling at the time of the post. As a matter of fact it is still my opinion at the time of this post. But if you believe that they are the best thing to come since sliced bread then more power to you. As the theme goes "whatever keeps you off of analogs". I have been tinkering w/ them for on and off for 2 months now and have dedicated the last 3 days to vaping exclusively on drip RBAs and genesis tanks. It was the most miserable 3 days of my vaping life. I almost quit vaping until I refilled my carto tank and all of a sudden I remember why I enjoy vaping.

People often tout the superior flavor while using RBAs. It may be just my own personal taste but I feel that RBAs do not offer the same flavor as my carto tanks. They seem to be missing certain notes when vaped side by side. I am either missing the flavor intensity, the sweetness, or the tartness that carto tanks/cartos offer. I can recoup some of the flavor intensity by cranking up my power output to 13-14 watts but I find this unacceptable for daily vaping as this will drastically reduce my vape time while I am out and about.

I do find dripper RBAs useful so that I can try new juices and I do like using them around the house so that I can swap flavors often and it is much more cost effective than replacing a HH 357 or any cisco spec attie every few months but the cost of the cisco/hh357 is minimal anyway when spread over 3+ months.

You may be thinking by now that I cannot make a nice wick and coil therefore I am doing it wrong. This may be the case but when I compare my wick/coil/RBAs w/ the locals who are in love w/ theirs it is about the same. When I sample their RBAs and they sample mine they are about the same.

I have a theory that this whole idea that RBAs offer superior flavor may be a placebo effect for some people. They are thinking to themselves "Wow, I got this POS to work and it is the best thing EVER!" just because they were able to overcome a challenge. I so far have not bought into it. Please do not mistake my opinions as an attempt to declare these words as gospel. These are simply my opinions as of today. Once my RBA tanks for dummies arrive in the mail (RSSTs) then perhaps my opinion may change again. I simply wanted to 1) Vent 2) solicit some raw opinions about RBAs 3) Go out and just say what so many of us just wanted to scream at the top of our lungs at one point in time before we had the pbusardo epiphany moment. "RBAs suck!!!"

As of today my delivery methods in the order of preference is as follows.

Carto tanks, cartos, dripper RBAs, cisco spec atties, iclear 30, bcc type tanks, vivi nova, tank RBAs.

This order has changed many times and I am sure it will change many more. I am sure that the person reading this post has had a similar experience.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my rant. Typing all this out was much more therapeutic (and more cost effective) than throwing out all my vaping gear.

I agree, they are a PAIN!! I often think about throwing them across the room after fiddling with it.. They are something that you have to adjust, daily.. But the rewards is fantastic and the pain goes away after few more intimate dates. Like a complicated woman, took me some time to understand but when you do, you will agree that Genesis type atomizer will give you the best flavor. If you don't believe this then you have not properly used Genesis atomizer. Just because your coils are glowing does not mean your properly using the Genesis. The mesh needs to be in ideal condition and shape for the coil to properly wick and allow the coils to vaporize the way it should. And don't forget the draw..
Here is an example, I cannot stand pluid no matter how much I cut it down in my genesis, but in my clearos and cartos I can stand them. Once the geneisis is fully understood then you will know how much other systems actually mute the flavor.
And if you think genesis rba's dont put out vapor... Put down your vv/vw limited mod, Try twist 32awg in your mech.. or even just 30 awg, 3 wraps.. Hard to compete with the amount of vapor/concentration you get in a small puff, if you have it adjusted properly*.
Just get yourself a nice pic tool to adjust and you will get long service out of your Genesis. I usually recoil about 1 every week or two and my mesh lasts longtime. My other non genesis is like a ugly wife, gets no play now days.
You opinion will vary depending on the experiences and understanding to them. I did not always think think way.
