RBA's lack flavor?

Is it just me or does clearomizers have better flavor than rba's? I have certain juices that taste awesome in clearomizers, but not in my rba. I thought rba's were supposed to be superior in both vapor production & flavor? Don't get me wrong, I love RBA's due to the vapor production.

I'm currently using 28ga, 3mm silica, dual coil 4/5 wraps. My vapor production is awesome, but flavor lacks immensely.

you did not say what device or mod you are using.
it sounds like you went right for a subohm build
if not done correctly it steams the juice too much to get any of the flavor through as densely as it should.

i would suggest trying for around 1.0-1.2 ohm with a single coil, just for comparison purposes. i use both silica and mesh attys and cannot for the life of me taste anything at all from a clearo now.

I was going to answer b00gym4n's question of "is it just me?" with a smarmy... "yes, it's just you"... but this ^ will work fine, other than I can still taste clearos... but you probably don't want to know exactly what it is that I taste.

Your experience with RBAs depends 95% on the coil you build. Of course, there are some flaws with design sometimes, especially when you get into the China clones, but overall the issues with flavor or vapor production are very likely self induced.

For example, I have never tasted GJ4 from GoodEjuice like when I am vaping on my Ithaka clone...

I'm using an igo-w on a turtle ship mech mod 18650 battery. Does anyone have an example of a build that brings out ultimate flavor and vapor production?

I want to get my RDA to 1.3 ohms as suggested, how many wraps would that be using 28ga kanthal DUAL coils. I'm having trouble understanding dual coils in regard to ohms.

from my understanding dual coils lowers ohms by effectively halving your ohm level vs a single while running in series.

Heavier gauge Kanthal lowers ohms. Try a single coil at 30 or 32 gauge.

Also if your hole is drilled out it might be over drilled.

There is a fine balance between big clouds and taste. It's all trial and error till you find your sweet spot.

Dual coils halve the ohms

Two 1ohm coils will produce an effective 0.5ohm resistance.

If you want a 1.3 Ohm dual coil build, you need to build two 2.6 Ohm coils

28 gauge is 0.45ohms/inch, so by my math you need to use about 5.75 inches of wire PER COIL to hit 1.3 on a dual coil build(2.6 per coil)

Doesn't sound practical with 28... Plus it's gonna take about a week to heat up.

How much is 30ga per inch for ohms. Is there a chart somewhere? For dual coil to get 1.3 ohms what do you recommend using? 32ga?

You need to slow down and do some reading. Fat wire and low resistance can lead to unwanted results if you're not careful. I hope you are using good batteries. I'd start in the RBA section. Be sure to check out the Micro Coil threads. You can get sub ohm results with higher resistance coils compared to normal wrapped coils. Much easier to do and safer.

30 is about .75/in

Don't know what 32 is, I haven't used it in a long time, but it's probably your best bet.

Google "Kanthal resistance chart" it's one off the first results

knowledge is power. go forth and lurk

if you like how your clearo vapes, build it like that. looks like 1x fold 1mm silica 5/4 wrap 32g kanthal. when you step up to 28g and 3mm silica or cotton, flavor/vapor increase tremendously. so much that you have to decrease nicotine amount.

heres a great example of a microcoils from the microcoil thread. this vs clearomizer.... you gotta try it yourself.
