So I'm using a stingray mod, smok catapillar rda, efest 18650 35A 2500mah bat... running it at .43 ohm.

I'm sure drips are awesome but all my experience has been completely harsh and I don't get why.. I really wanna use drips but every time I hit it its haaarrssshhh. Am I putting too much liquid?? Too little cotton??? What's the deal here?

Thanks in advance!

Is your atty's air flow set up properly?

Did you go down to 6 MG juice?

Both very good points. I'm vaping a Cyclone at 0.5 ohms with dual coils. I have 2, 3mm air holes and take lung hits. Juice is zero nic. The vape is very tasty, cool and I get a lot of vapor with short hits.

I'm only at 10-11w.. 6mg nic. 28g dual coils. Idk.. don't think my wick is choked.. 7 wraps. Its like I'm burning the liquid.. idk. When I Starr burning down the liquid it gets a lot less harsh.

You stated in the initial post that your build was .43 ohms. That would equal 32 watts at 3.7 volts and maybe even a little more on a freshly charged battery, even if it's down to 3.2 volts that's still 24 watts, not 10-11.

My guess would be it's an airflow or wicking issue, you need lots of airflow moving directly over the coil with a wick that has the ability to provide lots of juice flow to the coil for that build. My suggestion would be to go higher ohms on the build, single coil, 1 ohm or higher which is easier to master. Once you get that right and educate yourself on sub ohm builds then you can start experimenting with lower ohm builds.

At .43 ohms and 6mg, I'm thinking airflow IF your wicks are good.

Check that your coils are full but the wick can be slid back and forth with minimal resistance. Too tight, it'll choke and burn wick, too little and it can't keep up the flow and you'll burn wick.

Airflow is subjective but at .43 you're probably going to want a fairly airy draw, this will cool and mute the flavor somewhat. Too airy, very muted flavor, not airy enough, concentrated hot flavor.

There is also the juice itself. I have some inexpensive tobacco shop ifill brand juice. It's pretty bad but generally vapeable but not on a dripper. It's horrible! So that could be a factor as well.

Hope you get it sorted out, something very enjoyable about drippers with a great juice.

Good luck.

Jeez you make it sound so enjoyable. I wish I could experience it. It seems hot. Like the air seems hot. But I have 5 holes on two sides a total of 10 holes. I've tried 3 different vape shops juices. Just made a .63 ohm coil. No difference. Even changed my wick style. The wicks are able to move but not loose. I'm determined to experience what a great drip is like but everything I try is in vein. That .63 was with 9 wraps. Eh.. guess I'm going back to the nautilus until I figure this out.. I'm gonna drill some bigger holes on both sides tomorrow.

Any more suggestions by any chance?

can we get some pictures of your build(s) before you tear them(it) apart?

You don't have any hot legs or hot spots do you? (fire the mod with the top cap off and look for anything turning red) Even with perfect airflow and wicking a hot spot will ruin an otherwise beautiful vape.
