I'm wanting to get into dripping. Not interested in sub ohming or mech mods. Currently using an MVP with a kayfun. I read somewhere on Facebook that it would be pointless to get an rda and use it on the MVP since it tops out at 11 watts. Is this true even if I'm not wanting to sub ohm? I've been eyeing the Magma rda btw if that makes any difference.

So are RDAs mainly for sub ohm builds? Or at least meant to be used with something with more power like mechs or DNA30 devices?

No they don't have to be. Different ones are designed for different things. There are certainly some out there that are good for single coiling which can be decent even on 3.7 volt regulated egos.

As others have said, it's not to do with whether you can/should use RDAs on an MVP - it's to do with dual coil builds being - debateably, depending on your materials, your coil resistance, and the kind of vape you're hunting - not worth the effort due to the wattage limit. My absolute favorite topper for my MVP 2 is a Kraken with a single microcoil and cotton running at 1 ohm. I can get dual coils to work, but it takes a lot more fiddling to get exactly the same vape experience, so why bother when it will also burn twice the juice to get me there?

That's *my* preference... if I wanted to subohm, I wouldn't have MVPs. And I get plenty of flavor and vapor from a well wrapped single microcoil.

IMO, what makes the difference when it comes to single coil RBAs is air flow control and the size of the chamber. A well-designed chamber (small or domed) and the ability to adjust your air flow can allow for a very nice vape without needing dual coils or sub-ohming.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with either practice (provided one is educated about battery safety etc), but subohming, dual coiling etc are not *requirements* to get a good vape out of an RDA.

(Edited to add): I had a chance to try a buddy's Magma on my MVP 2.0 a little while ago, also running a single microcoil with cotton at about 1.1 ohm, and it was fantastic. A Magma will be my next purchase. Again, that's just my opinion - not a guarantee that what I like will be what you like - but I was quite happy with the experience!

I have messed around with my Trident on my MVP V2 and put a dual nano coil reading 1.7 ohms out of 30 GA Kanthal and it worked pretty good, but flavor was pretty much non existent. The 11 watts is too low for dense flavor on dual coils, but a single nano at 2.3 ohms kicks .... if you dragon wick it. I think it looks good on the MVP, but something like a Zmax for $40 will get you 15 watts and trust me there is a huge difference from 11-15. I find for those lower VV/VW devices it's best to stick with your tank fed sytems and leave the RDA's for Mech Mods and Regulated mods that are 20 watts and up. My :2c: VAPE ON! :vapor:

I maybe not be doing something right but I love the mvp2 with a Vision Eternity which you put 35 drops or so in. I've also used the mini a7 and love it too. Both are super easy to build. I think my ego-L would work fine too. I will probably do that just to see. I feel in love with dripping which is the best thing about using a reo grand. 6ml just waiting right there to make me happy. Now that is ultimate dripping. :D

Different strokes for different folks. Vape Happy

I enjoy my RDAs on MVP 2 everyday - I mostly drip.

I get great flavor and good dense vapor with simple 1.5 ohm range micro-coil - 28 gauge kanthal - 12 wraps 5/64th drill bit with peaches and cream cotton rope (walmart) wicking. Vape in 8 to 10 watt range depending on juice/build/RDA.

I mostly use this coil type in all of my RDAs and all perform well: IGO-Ls/Ws, Nimbus, patriot, magma, clones from fasttech or ebay.

The IGO-L was my first RDA and still a good performer today - inexpensive way to get started $6-7 fast tech/$10-11 on ebay.

I did drill out the air hole on the IGO-L to 1/16th inch for better air flow for me.

Position of coil and airflow is a significant factor in temperature of vapor and density - at least in my experience it has been - your results my vary. Make sure top cap air hole is lined up with coil.

Rip Trippers on youtube has videos with this identical build - it is where I learned to do same. 28 gauge is a thicker wire/easier to wrap and this coil will last maybe forever.

Pulse dry burn coil very other day and change wick - used same IGO-L daily for 3 months and replaced it just cause I like to build coils and a fresh start now and then.

Have since built nano/dual thru quad/ micro/mega/screw thread/stove top burner/twisted wire/etc but still mostly use simple single micro-coil.

Of course the higher the VG% the denser the clouds. I use 75%VG DIY juice.

Drippers for me provide a fun hobby of using different coil/wick materials of different shapes and sizes. I am dripping on one right now that is two micro coils in series (one wire) - working great(cloud machine).

May you post a link for a zmax for 40$ i would really apreciate it :)
