It's not a huge deal either way. I just like to know what I'm getting.
Totally get that. That is one of the downsides of those products. I typically only buy secondhand things if they are not cloned or if I really know the seller.

I own a FT petri clone that I never even got to build on. As soon as I tightened the negative post it broke loose. Horrible quality. But, not all clones are created equal. If there's a serial number on it you may be able to contact dotmod and ask.Okay. I had read some other clones had some pretty good tells, like different sized posts or different machining marks. Are Petri clones pretty good? I only just started using RDAs, and only have one so far, an Indestructible.
I'll see what it looks like tomorrow. He's bringing some other stuff, too. A Glacier, a Panzer Red Phoenix copper mod, and a Noisy Cricket. I'm sure I can find something. lolI own a FT petri clone that I never even got to build on. As soon as I tightened the negative post it broke loose. Horrible quality. LOL, I did the same. I debated with myself for so long that the stock disappeared. Oh well, I'll get one eventually I think.Wow. I actually decided to buy it and waited too long. Them sh**z is gone! LOL
My initial build in the Pancake is similar to @HeiSINberg except I tilted the coil at a 45° angle. Vaping pretty well. The wicking, obviously, constricts the airflow to a degree but not as much as I would've thought. I'm getting pretty damn good flavor and about the same vapor production as the NarDA (which is plenty for me). I still want to play around with some more builds and even try a "harp" coil (I think that's what Bret called it) but I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase. I see that Ought Vape still has the brush coil jig for the Pancake, I'm gonna have to pick one up to help with "harp" coils.
ETA: My only negative thus far is that this atty isn't the easiest to build on. I guess the more accurate way to put it would be that it's aggravating to build on. Getting the leads around the screw head (and to stay trapped) can be an exercise in frustration. Some of that is probably due to me using Clapton wire and next build I'm going to use either SS 316L or 26g Kanthal to determine if that makes things a bit less annoying. I'm sure that it will.
So I changed my build last night, I wasn't able to get on ECF for whatever reason my phone wouldn't let me. Let me start out by saying my first build was a major let down in every catagory other then looks maybe, my intentions were to get it up and running, I saw different builds on the ohman Facebook page similar to mine, some had been slanted for airflow and some not so I figured how bad could it be. It was simple and and if people were saying it was great then what the hell, let's do it! Wrong. It was horrible. So I decided to do dual 26g 8 wraps each ohms out just over .51 or so, plus this time I slanted them. That was the key I missed, I knew I should of done it on the first build but I didn't so that was my fault not the pancake. Flavor is great and vapor is great. My only con still is it holds close to no liquid, but I didn't buy it for dripping anyway. Plus with 1 screw plug in the BF pin for dripper mode, prepare for leaking everywhere, so I took the 2 that were sent with it and threw both in there, they fit perfect I'd say that's probly how it's meant to be? MaybeLove your honesty!
Kformeck and I were talking about this the other day. I just never understood when I saw builds like this in this atty or others. It looked to me that only sliver of the coil would be getting hit by air. I just couldn't understand it! Luckily, you said what I felt was likely the result or, at least, the result that I would get. A build maybe worthy of a Kodak moment, but not one worth all that much in the form of a vape!
Having said that, (from what I can tell, even not having the atty) it looks like you could just have the leads a tiny bit longer and use a coiling rod or drill bit to lift the coil up higher to meet the airflow. Then again, I really don't know this atty.
I don't think it would be as bad considering this is top airflow only. You wouldn't have to position your coils down into the deck like the tug.Very interesting, but that deck is veering mightily close to the Tug v3. I don't EVER want to build on a 'deck' like that again.
No, it's supposed to be here Monday.J.....did you get your Petri?
I'm really loving it. It's everything I was hoping the AX1 was gonna be and more.@kformeck - How's that NoPity doing for you?
Got one yesterday, I haven't had time to build it, but the deck looks really nice...actually the whole atty is designed really nice. No, it's supposed to be here Monday.

Did anyone in here get the kanger dripbox? My local vape shop just got them in, I was just there and didn't realize they had them. Considering going back and checking it out...

I talked to the owner and supposedly she has to pull the item until she's "allowed" to put them up for sale but she is putting one aside for me. I'm not gonna argue with 35$ lol. Problem is I leave for vacation tonight and won't be back till next weekend. Oh well, it'll be there.Let us know about them whether you get one or not. I really am interested!
