Hey guys the hobo 3.1 came and the flavor is great I just put a simple 316l SS build in 24g 12 wraps with 3mm id came in at .3 a couple of things when I go to unscrew my Atty it just spins because of how its keyed in an when I got to move the AFC it ends up screwing it on even tighter making it almost impossible to unscrew (let me know If that made sense) also its getting wayyyyyyy to hot guys and I only have it at 50 watts. Switched it to TC and its still getting way too hot at 380f...... I have a feeling you have to really be careful how you build in this and Clapton's I'm picturing are going to be way to hot.

Am I built to low ??? Is SS316l not good for this Atty? Also can anyone share a good flavor build with me that won't melt my face ?

Sorry about all the questions guys ....8(

I got no answers for you, but I can tell you that you have no reason to apologize. It's great that you're here! Ask away.

Now I'll back out so someone with some real help can chime in.

Hmm... somethings not right. According to steam engine, 12 wraps @3mm I.D. with 24ga should come out to about .6 ohms? Is it a dual coil setup? If so, THEN .3 makes sense. Most mods do NOT like dual coil setups.

Also, just a WAG, but on most temp control mods, a minimum of 0.5ohms is called for when using S.S., for accurate temp control. I think your build is maybe too low to get accurate results?

Sorry its a dual i am used to building in the magma reborn/h-atty /petri v2/tugboat 24/sub zero 24 and i usually build between .18 -.2 i think SS has too low of a resistance hence even with a 12 wrap build its only a .3 (is that too low for hobo...?)

I love SS but I have kanthal and nichrome different guages and Clapton's so I can build just about anything if anyone has recommendations. I was hoping to build duals in here but have no problems with single coils also I am more interested in flavor then clouds. Would a higher resistance yield better flavor And reduce the amount of heat I am experiencing ?

Also thanks for the tip with SS TC I had no clue it needed a .5 build for accuracy

Everything is fine about your build except the gauge wire that you're using. If you are going to build duals with S.S., you'll want some 28 or higher gauge. 12 wraps, 3mm ID with 28 gauge will get you (slightly) above .5ohms. Also, it's never the RDA that determines the electrical performance (not much anyway), but rather, the mod. Some mods, like the XCube2, have a setting for Dual coils. Works OK. Check your mod. If it supports dual coils, you will want to set it on that feature. It is usually a menu choice between SC or DC (single or dual coils).

Awww.. you're very welcome! I'm here to serve.. ;)
You may want to save this lil chart to your machine. Comes in handy. Shows TCR of each material, and also the minimum recommended ohms. DEFINITELY use S.S. if your mod supports it, the issues with Ti and Ni are well known. :)

I used to struggle with both Ti & SS in temp mode until I started building higher, at least .5. That seemed to be more stable for me. I build with 26awg for duals & use 28awg for twisted. I prefer thinner wire since it ramps up quick & cools down.

It's a small atty so maybe your build is hot, have you tried running around 30-35w?

I'm thinking that maybe that's what I should do I'm thinking maybe I should build a .5 dual and try running it a bit lower between 35-45 watts

That's bull.... from my understanding she is not profiting financially from this it was a passion project. Everyone knows Roxy is an RTA junkie and really wanted to help bring a better RTA to the community. I hope they reinstate her account seriously one of the nicest people here !!!

Edit
If anyone wants to talk about this pm me as I dont want to derail the thread

Hey fish you have a hobo right ? What's a build you enjoy in it ? Also I need to read up on flavor builds I'm used to building pretty low and I'm wondering if that's impeding flavor in some of my rda's. I like vapor production but just because I like to feel my hit in my lungs. Flavor is where its at for me and vapor production is just an added bonus 8)

I only just read a few things but before reading I figured they banned her for being an unregistered supplier which is absolute BS. She was very open about NOT being compensated. This is pure BS, I'm sorry to see her go.

Not the first person to have this happen and typically a loss to the ECF community.

Very mind boggling profit is put ahead of the greater good for the ECF community.

I'm pretty much done with ECF due to the moderators and what occurred with Roxynoodle. Just wanted to say I enjoyed talking drippers and everything else with you all.

Please don't jump to any conclusions yet, JH. Her status is currently "unresolved". Think of ECF as a VERY large ship. It doesn't turn easily, or quickly, but with the right finesse it does turn eventually. A LOT has changed about ECF for the better over the past few years, and the hand of moderation has gotten more... moderate.

The supplier thing is difficult. Hard to know where to draw the line. The Can O Worms that could be covert suppliers, using solid ECF credentials and respected member friends, to pimp their own wares, is a very real concern and one we should be behind. Unfortunately, good and unwitting people get caught in the net, but rules have to be somewhat consistent. Hopefully, Roxy can sort it out with the mods to everyone's satisfaction. She hasn't been "moved on" or anything yet.

I still remember when a certain YouTube reviewer started making his own Genny, and while some knew it was his, not everyone (including myself) did. His "fabulous" reviews caught me, and many others, up into buying something that was, quality wise, worse than any Fast Tech clone I've EVER seen. The mods believe they are protecting us from this, and to a large extent (have you ever watched the New Members forum? Egads!) they are.

Seriously, how would you handle this? Not an easy call. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, whatever happens, ECF has THE best content and contributors on the web. Unfortunately for Roxy, it appears she has a stake in a commercial venture, and she will likely either have to completely abandon it, or accept supplier status, and the limitations on her activities that come with it..

She's already been told that unless she registers as a supplier and pays the required fees her account will not be re-instated.

I understand your points but Roxy was up front and very clear that she helped design the atty. She always stated "of course I am probably biased cause I designed it" or words to that effect when she gave her thoughts on it.

ETA: she has no real stake in other than maybe pride. She has not and will not receive any sort of compensation.
